1967 New York Mets Season
The 1967 New York Mets season was the sixth regular season for the Mets. They went 61–101 and finished 10th in the National League, 40½ games behind the NL pennant and World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. They were managed by Wes Westrum and Salty Parker. They played home games at Shea Stadium. One of the only bright spots was rookie pitcher Tom Seaver (whom the Mets won the right to draft in a lottery) who posted a 2.76 ERA, a 16-13 record and was voted to his first All-Star Game. Seaver's arrival would help turn the Mets around from lovable losers to legitimate contenders. Amos Otis
Amos Joseph Otis (born April 26, 1947) is an American former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a center fielder from to , most prominently as an integral member of the Kansas City Royals team that won the franchise's first American League Western Division championship in 1976, and their first American League pennant in 1980. Although the Royals lost the 1980 World Series in six games to the Philadelphia Phillies, Otis produced a .478 batting average with 3 home runs in what would be his only World Series appearance. A five-time All-Star, Otis twice led the American League in doubles and once led the league in stolen bases. He was considered one of the best center fielders of his era, using his speed to earn three Gold Glove Awards. Houston Astros
The Houston Astros are an American professional baseball team based in Houston, Texas. The Astros compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division, having moved to the division in 2013 after spending their first 51 seasons in the National League (NL). Don Bosch
Donald John Bosch (born July 15, 1942) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player and minor league baseball all-star. Bosch was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent in 1960. He made it to the major league club in 1966. In between, Bosch made stops in Kingsport, Batavia, Grand Forks, Kinston, Asheville, and Columbus. While with the Kinston Eagles, in 1963, he was named to the Carolina League all-star team and in 1966 while a member of the Columbus Jets he made the International League all-star team. Following the 1966 season, Bosch was traded by the Pirates with Don Cardwell to the New York Mets for Dennis Ribant and Gary Kolb. He played in 94 big league games for the Mets during 1967 and 1968. Don Cardwell
Donald Eugene Cardwell (December 7, 1935 – January 14, 2008) was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) right-handed pitcher who played for five National League (NL) teams from 1957 to 1970. He was the first pitcher in major league history to pitch a no-hitter in his first game after being traded. He pitched a no-hit, 4–0 winning game for the Chicago Cubs on May 15, 1960, just two days after being traded from the Philadelphia Phillies. After winning 15 games for the Cubs in 1961, he won 13 games twice for the Pittsburgh Pirates before helping the New York Mets win the 1969 World Series title. Gary Kolb
Gary Alan Kolb (March 13, 1940 – July 3, 2019) was an American professional baseball player. An outfielder and utilityman, Kolb played all or parts of seven seasons (1960; 1962–65; 1968–69) of Major League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Braves, New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates. He threw right-handed, batted left-handed, stood tall and weighed . Kolb signed with the Cardinals in 1960 after attending the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Herman Thomas Davis Jr. (March 21, 1939 – April 3, 2022) was an American professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a left fielder and third baseman from 1959 to 1976 for ten different teams, most prominently for the Los Angeles Dodgers where he was a two-time National League batting champion and was a member of the 1963 World Series winning team.
