1967 Memorial Cup
The 1967 Memorial Cup was the 49th annual Memorial Cup competition, organized by the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) to determine the champion of junior A ice hockey. The George Richardson Memorial Trophy champions Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey Association in Eastern Canada competed against the Abbott Cup champions Port Arthur Marrs of the Thunder Bay Junior Hockey League in Western Canada. In a best-of-seven series, held at Fort William Gardens in Fort William, Ontario, Toronto won their fifth Memorial Cup, defeating Port Arthur 4 games to 1. Toronto Marlboros
The Toronto Marlborough Athletic Club, commonly known as the Toronto Marlboros, was founded in 1903. It operated junior ice hockey and senior ice hockey teams in the Ontario Hockey Association and later the Ontario Hockey League. The Marlboros were a farm team to the Toronto Maple Leafs and one of the dominant junior teams in history, winning seven Memorial Cup championships. The senior team competed for the Stanley Cup in 1904, and won the Allan Cup in 1950. Their heritage has been perpetuated by the Toronto Marlboros Hockey Club, which operates several minor ice hockey teams in the Greater Toronto Hockey League; and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Richie Bayes
Richie Bayes (March 21, 1948 – October 16, 2006) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who was selected by the Chicago Black Hawks in the first round (fourth overall) of the 1964 NHL Amateur Draft, however he never played a game in the NHL. After his retirement from professional hockey, he worked at the Bible Hill Junior High School as a vice principal and teacher in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. Bob Whidden
Robert J. "Bob" Whidden (born July 27, 1946) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and high school ice hockey coach. He played goaltender. He was born in Sudbury, Ontario and was involved in ice hockey in various capacities for over fifty years. Playing career Whidden played junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) from 1965 to 1967. In 1967, the Marlboros won the J. Ross Robertson Cup (OHA championship) and the Memorial Cup (Canadian Major Junior championship). Michael Joseph Pelyk (born September 29, 1947) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 441 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) and 150 games in the World Hockey Association (WHA). Douglas Bradford "Brad" Park (born July 6, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. A defenceman, Park played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings. Considered to be one of the best defencemen of his era, he was named to an All-Star team seven times. The most productive years of his career were overshadowed by superstar Bobby Orr, with whom he played for a brief time. Unlike Orr's, however, his teams never hoisted the Stanley Cup. Al Osborne (born 8 March 1947 in Weston, Ontario) is a retired professional Canadian ice hockey player who was selected in the first round (4th overall) of the 1963 NHL Amateur Draft. Osborne was a 16-year-old playing junior B hockey in the Weston, Ontario when he was selected fourth overall by the New York Rangers in the first ever NHL amateur draft. He played three seasons (1964–67) in the Ontario Hockey Association with the Toronto Marlboros before turning professional with the Omaha Knights for the 1967-68 season in the Central Professional Hockey League. Brian "Blunt" Glennie (August 29, 1946 – February 7, 2020) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1969 until 1979. Glennie was a master of the hip-check. Amateur career Glennie was born in Toronto, Ontario. He had an outstanding junior career with the Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey Association, eventually captaining the team to the 1967 Memorial Cup.
