1966 European Cup Final
The 1966 European Cup Final was a football match held at the Heysel Stadium, Brussels, on 11 May 1966 that saw Real Madrid of Spain defeat FK Partizan of Yugoslavia 2–1 to win the 1965–66 European Cup title. Route to the final Match Summary The final was a competitive match. First Partizan took the lead through a goal by Velibor Vasović in the 55th minute, but Real Madrid soon took over, getting an equaliser in the 70th minute from Spanish international Amancio Amaro. Real Madrid got the winner in the 76th minute from Fernando Serena. With this goal, Real Madrid sealed their win and became European Champions once again. This was Real Madrid's sixth European Cup triumph in the 11 years of the tournament's existence. However, ''Los Blancos'' would not win the competition again until 1998, when Predrag Mijatović–– who was, ironically, a former Partizan player–– scored the winning goal in the 66th minute of the final. Pedro De Felipe
Pedro Eugenio de Felipe Cortés (18 July 1944 – 12 April 2016) was a Spanish footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Born in Madrid, de Felipe returned to Real Madrid in 1964 at the age of 20 following a loan to Community of Madrid neighbours Rayo Vallecano. He appeared in only four La Liga games in his first season but totalled 45 the following two, winning the 1965–66 European Cup in the process while contributing seven complete matches. On 28 September 1967, after playing three games with a damaged meniscus, de Felipe successfully underwent surgery, being out of action for several months. He still managed to be regularly used during two of his last four years at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, leaving the club in 1972 and spending a further six top-flight campaigns with RCD Español, retiring at 34. Pirri
José Martínez Sánchez (born 11 March 1945), nicknamed Pirri, is a Spanish former footballer. A central midfielder in the early part of his career, he finished up as a sweeper. He spent the vast majority of his career with Real Madrid, appearing in 561 competitive matches and scoring 172 goals while winning 15 titles. He also served as captain of the club. Manuel Sanchís
Manuel Sanchís Martínez (26 March 1938 – 28 October 2017) was a Spanish footballer who played as a defender. Like his son, Manolo Sanchís, he represented Real Madrid and Spain. They were one of only four father/son pairs to have won the European Cup/Champions League (the others being Cesare and Paolo Maldini, Carles and Sergio Busquets and Zinedine and Luca Zidane), and he played 213 La Liga matches over ten seasons. Pachín
Enrique Pérez Díaz (28 December 1938 – 10 February 2021), known as Pachín, was a Spanish football defender and manager. Club career Born in Torrelavega, Cantabria, Pachín signed with Real Madrid in 1959 from Segunda División club CA Osasuna. He made his La Liga debut on 11 September 1960 in a 1–0 away loss against Atlético Madrid, then proceeded to be a starter in that and the following four seasons. José Araquistáin Arrieta (born 4 March 1937) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Real Sociedad Born in Azkoitia, Gipuzkoa, Araquistáin started his career with local Real Sociedad, playing five La Liga seasons with the club and being first-choice in four of those. The 1998 UEFA Champions League Final was a football match that took place at the Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam, on 20 May 1998 to determine the winner of the 1997–98 UEFA Champions League. Predrag "Peđa" Mijatović ( sr-Cyrl, Предраг Мијатовић, ; born 19 January 1969) is a Montenegrin retired professional footballer who played as a striker. At club level, Mijatović played for six clubs: Budućnost, Partizan, Valencia, Real Madrid, Fiorentina and Levante. Internationally, he played for FR Yugoslavia at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and at the UEFA Euro 2000. Fernando Rodríguez Serena (28 January 1941 – 15 October 2018) was a Spanish footballer who played as a right winger. He appeared in 144 La Liga matches during nine seasons, scoring a combined 23 goals for Real Madrid, Osasuna and Elche. With the first club, he won the 1966 European Cup.
