Gwyl Barnes
Gwyl Barnes (1940–2000) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) in the years 1964–68. Barnes who played for the Eastern Suburbs club played 41 matches in his career. Kevin Junee
Kevin Junee is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played as a in the 1960s and 1970s. An Australian international and New South Wales interstate representative back, he played his club football in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership for Sydney teams Eastern Suburbs and Manly-Warringah. Family Kevin is the father of Australian dual code rugby league and rugby union player Darren Junee who also played rugby league for the Eastern Suburbs club between 1995 and 1998. Ron Saddler
Ronald William Saddler was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. A New South Wales and Australian international representative three-quarter back, he played in Sydney's NSWRFL Premiership for the Eastern Suburbs club. Originally from Euabalong, New South Wales, and of Wiradjuri descent, Ron first played rugby league for Tweed Heads. Saddler also played for the Sydney club Eastern Suburbs from 1963–64 and 1966–71. An Aboriginal , Saddler was selected for the 1967/68 Kangaroo Tour, playing in 12 matches, but no tests. Saddler has been allocated Eastern Suburbs player number 529. Terry Mathews
Terry Alan Mathews (October 5, 1964February 24, 2012) was an American professional baseball player who pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) from to . He played for the Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, and Kansas City Royals. Mathews pitched in college at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University). He had a 3.38 earned run average (ERA) in 57 appearances as the Marlins' setup man in 1995. After being replaced in the role by Jay Powell and with a 4.91 ERA in 57 games in 1996, he was acquired by the Orioles from the Marlins on August 21 of that year in a transaction that was completed two days later on August 23 when Gregg Zaun was sent to Florida. Kenneth Lee McMullen (born June 1, 1942) is an American former Major League Baseball third baseman. Born in Oxnard, California, he batted and threw right-handed, stood tall and weighed . Los Angeles Dodgers McMullen signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers upon graduation from Oxnard High School. After two minor league seasons in which he batted .285 with 42 home runs and 177 runs batted in, McMullen made his major league debut as a September call-up in at just twenty years old. Melbourne Storm
The Melbourne Storm are a rugby league club based in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia that participates in the National Rugby League. The first fully professional rugby league team based in the state, the Storm entered the competition in 1998. The Storm were originally a Super League initiative, created in 1997 during the Super League war, however, following the Super League collapse, the team became a part of the newly formed, united competition. The club play their home games at AAMI Park. The Storm have won four premierships since their inception, in 1999, 2012, 2017 and 2020, and have contested several more grand finals, but were stripped of the 2007 and 2009 premierships following salary cap breaches. 2010 NRL Season
The 2010 NRL season was the 103rd season of professional rugby league football club competition in Australia, and the thirteenth run by the National Rugby League. The season commenced on 12 March and ended with the Grand Final, played on 3 October at ANZ Stadium. National Rugby League teams, Sixteen teams competed for the 2010 Telstra Premiership whilst the third season of the 2010 NRL Under-20s season, National Youth Competition was also in progress. The 2010 season was marred by the Melbourne Storm's admission in April of systematically breaching the NRL salary cap. Melbourne Storm Salary Cap Breach
The Melbourne Storm salary cap breach was a major breach of the National Rugby League's strictly enforced salary cap by the Melbourne Storm club over a period of five years. The discovery of these breaches in 2010 by the NRL resulted in it stripping the Storm of all honours achieved as a team between 2006 and 2010. This included the 2007 and 2009 premierships, the 2006, 2007 and 2008 minor premierships and the 2010 World Club Challenge title. Investigation Following claims by a whistleblower that the club was keeping a second set of books, the NRL conducted an investigation in late 2009 and early 2010.
