The 1966 Coppa delle Alpi shows the results of the 1966 tournament that was held as a preseason event to the 1966/67 season. The Coppa delle Alpi, Coppa delle Alpi (translated as ''Cup of the Alps'') was a Association football, football tournament, jointly organized by the Italian national league and the Swiss League as a pre-season event. Overview This season the Cup of the Alps was played as a league tournament with four teams from Switzerland and four teams from Italy. Each team played four games against the teams from the other country. The teams did not play compatriots. This year there was no cup final, the league leader was the cup winner. Janos Konrad (born 28 September 1945) is a Hungarian–Swiss former footballer who played for FC Basel during the 1960s. He played for Vevey Sports and Biel-Bienne in the early 1970s. He played principally in the position as a striker, but also as midfielder. Career Konrad played his youth football for FC Basel and advanced to their senior team in the 1963–64 season, but played mainly in their reserve team. He played his Nationalliga A debut on 13 September 1964 in the home game against Luzern that ended in a 2–2 draw. Just before half time in that game he scored his first goal for the club. Giampaolo Menichelli (; born 29 June 1938) is a former Italian footballer, who played as a winger. Menichelli was a fast, agile winger, with good technical ability, and he was known for mainly being a team player, despite also having an eye for goal. Helmut Hauser (born 7 March 1941) is a German former footballer. He played as forward. Hauser started his youth football with local club SV Schopfheim. He also played a few years in their senior team. In 1964 he transferred to Basel and played there for eight years, the first under trainer Georges Sobotka and seven under trainer Helmut Benthaus. He won the Swiss Championship four times and was Swiss Cup winner once. Antonio Sbardella (17 October 1925 – 14 January 2002) was an Italian football player, referee and sports official. He is best known for refereeing at the 1970 FIFA World Cup. Career Born in Palestrina near Rome, Sbardella first got involved in football playing as a goalkeeper at youth levels of the local powerhouse Lazio. However Sbardella never appeared in the Serie A as he failed to rise through the ranks at Lazio, and he eventually finished his playing career at Artiglio, a small Rome-based Serie C club.
