1966 BC Lions Season
The 1966 BC Lions finished in fifth place in the Western Conference with a 5–11 record continuing to regress as their star players were in the twilights of their careers. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division (CFL), East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. There were also two now-defunct teams from the Canadian Football League in the United States, mid 1990s United States expansion of the CFL who played in the West Division. Pat Claridge
Patrick S. Claridge (July 12, 1938 – March 8, 2012) was a Canadian football player who played for the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders. College career Claridge lettered at Washington from 1958-60. He was leading receiver and Most Improved Player on the 1960 team, which went 10-1 while beat Minnesota in the Rose Bowl 17-7 and was awarded the national championship by the Helms Athletic Foundation. CFL career He won the Grey Cup with the Lions in 1964. He played college football at the University of Washington with his brother Bruce, who also played in the CFL. He was later a businessman following his retirement from football. Sonny Homer
Lawrence "Sonny" Homer (July 8, 1936 – February 22, 2006) was a professional Canadian football wide receiver who played eleven seasons in the Canadian Football League for the BC Lions. He was part of the Lions' 1964 Grey Cup The 52nd Grey Cup was hosted at CNE Stadium in Toronto, Ontario on November 28, 1964. Willie Fleming
Willie Fleming (born February 2, 1939) is a former professional Canadian football player with the Canadian Football League's BC Lions. Fleming played collegiately as a halfback at the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the Hawkeyes' 1959 Rose Bowl championship team. He is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and the BC Lions Wall of Fame. Fleming's number 15 jersey is one of eight numbers retired by the Lions. In 2003, Fleming was voted a member of the BC Lions All-Time Dream Team as part of the club's 50th anniversary celebration. In 2006, Fleming was voted to the Honour Roll of the CFL's Top 50 players of the league's modern era by Canadian sports network TSN. Fleming earned the nickname "The Wisp" or "Will 'o the Wisp" because of his elusive running style.
