The 1965–66 Super League Greece, Alpha Ethniki was the 30th season of the highest Association football, football league of Greece. The season began on 28 November 1965 and ended on 19 June 1966. The Super League Greece 1 ( el, Ελληνική Σούπερ Λιγκ 1), or Super League 1, is the highest professional association football league in Greece. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced ''Alpha Ethniki'' at the top of the Greek football league system. It consists of 14 teams and runs from August to May, with teams playing 26 games. As of May 2022, Super League Greece is ranked 15th in the UEFA ranking of leagues, based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Since the foundation of the first official Panhellenic Championship in 1927, only six clubs have won the title. The current champions are Olympiacos, based in Piraeus. Panionios G.S.S. Football Club (Greek: ΠΑΕ Πανιώνιος Γ.Σ.Σ.), the ''Pan-Ionian Gymnastics Club of Smyrna'' (Πανιώνιος Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Σμύρνης, ''Panionios Gymnastikos Syllogos Smyrnis''), more commonly known as Panionios F.C. or simply Panionios, is a Greek amateur football club based in Nea Smyrni, Athens, Greece. Part of Panionios G.S.S. (founded in 1890 in Smyrna, Ottoman Empire), Panionios F.C. is the oldest Greek football club. In the wake of the Greco-Turkish War (1919–22) and the population exchange between Greece and Turkey, the multi-sport club Panionios G.S.S. was transferred to Athens. Alekos Alexiadis ( el, Αλέκος Αλεξιάδης; born 3 September 1945) is a retired Greek football player. Alexiadis was a star forward for Aris during the period 1963–1975. He was second, behind Dinos Kouis, on the all-time scorers list for Aris, having found the mark 127 times in his 301 appearances for the club. In 1976, Alexiadis played for Panetolikos and the following year for Kastoria. Aristides ( ; grc-gre, Ἀριστείδης, Aristeídēs, ; 530–468 BC) was an ancient Athenian statesman. Nicknamed "the Just" (δίκαιος, ''dikaios''), he flourished in the early quarter of Athens' Classical period and is remembered for his generalship in the Persian War. The ancient historian Herodotus cited him as "the best and most honourable man in Athens", and he received similarly reverent treatment in Plato's Socratic dialogues. Takis Loukanidis ( el, Τάκης Λουκανίδης, 25 September 1937 – 11 January 2018) was a Greek footballer of the 1950s–60s. Career Born in Paranesti, a village in the broader area of Drama, Loukanidis' father was killed by Bulgarian armed forces and soon after he was placed in an orphanage at age 10. He began playing football with the youth side of AEK Komotini, and joined the senior team of Doxa Drama F.C. in 1955. He soon attracted the interest of major clubs in Greece and abroad, including Juventus F.C. Finally, Antonis Mantzevelakis brought him to Panathinaikos via APOEL in Cyprus. Takis Loukanidis made his debut on 28 March 1962 against AEK Athens (score: 2-3). In the following match, on 1 April 1962, he scored his first goal with Panathinaikos, helping them beat Proodeftiki 5–0. He ended his career at Aris Thessaloniki, where he won the Greek Cup in 1970. Giorgos Sideris ( el, Γιώργος Σιδέρης, born 5 April 1938-) is a Greek former Association football, footballer, who played as striker (association football), striker.
