The 1965 Lady Wigram Trophy was a motor race held at the Wigram Airfield Circuit on 23 January 1965. Lady Wigram Trophy
The Lady Wigram Trophy is a New Zealand motorsport race trophy formerly awarded to the winner of the Wigram Airfield race. It made up part of the Tasman Series and classes like Formula Holden, Formula 5000, Formula Pacific and Formula Three. Graeme Lawrence
Graeme Lawrence (25 December 1940 -) is a race car driver from New Zealand. He started serious motor racing in the National 1.5 litre series (SR equivalent of F3) winning the series decisively in 1968 ahead of David Oxton and Ken Smith. Lawrence then ran half a European F2 series in an uncompetitive semi works F2 McLaren, he found the racing harder than expected and was shaken, by his experience racing in Germany at the Hockenheim race in the rain, were Jim Clark was killed. McLaren allowed Lawrence to build up another F2 chassis in his works and was 2nd in the SR Gold Star series in the car, and first ST driver home in the Tasman races at Pukekohe and Levin. Lawrence was the first New Zealander to win a race in the Tasman Series, in 1970. The 1964 Lady Wigram Trophy was a motor race held at the Wigram Airfield Circuit on 18 January 1964. It was the thirteenth Lady Wigram Trophy to be held and was won by Bruce McLaren for the second year in succession in the Cooper T70. After having started eighth after a dismal performance in the preliminary heat, McLaren came through the pack to take the win in what he described as his greatest performance. The Cooper T53 is a Formula One car built by British motorsport team Cooper for the 1960 Formula One season. Jack Brabham drove it to his second World Championship that year, and with teammate Bruce McLaren gave Cooper its second Constructors' Championship. Design and development history The T53 was lower and slimmer than its predecessor, the Cooper T51. It was equipped with a new tubular steel frame clad in aluminium panels. Suspension was by double wishbones, coil springs and telescopic dampers all round, a change from Cooper's usual transverse leaf spring at the rear. The Cooper Car Company is a British car manufacturer founded in December 1947 by Charles Cooper and his son John Cooper. Cooper T66
The Cooper T66 is a Formula One racing car from the Cooper Car Company, which was in use from 1963 to 1964. Development history The Cooper T66 was the Cooper Car Company's entry for the 1963 Formula One season and was a development of the previous year's T60, with lead driver Bruce McLaren providing significant input to the design. The chassis again consisted of a steel tubular frame but with steel panels welded to the underside to provide additional stiffening, and was clad with aluminium bodywork. Overall the car was slimmer than the T60. The front and rear suspension had double wishbones and coil springs but with revised geometry to correct the T60's tendency to nose-dive under braking. The Cooper T65 (also known as the T67) was the fourth series Formula Junior racing car designed by the Cooper Car Company for the 1963 season, the final year of Formula Junior.
