1965 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship
The 1965 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship was the second staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. Kerry were the defending champions from the previous championship, however, they did not field a team. On 3 October 1965, Kildare won the championship following a 2-11 to 1-7 defeat of Cork in the All-Ireland final. This was their first All-Ireland title. The Kildare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kildare GAA, is one of 12 county boards governed by the Leinster provincial council of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Kildare The County Board is responsible for preparing the Kildare county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling and camogie. The county football team won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) on four occasions in less than 25 years at the beginning of the 20th century and had accumulated ten Leinster Senior Football Championships by 1935; however, it then went into decline. The Munster GAA Football Under-20 Championship, known simply as the Munster Under-20 Championship, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county football competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in the province of Munster.
