1964 European Nations' Cup Final Tournament
The final tournament of the 1964 European Nations' Cup was a single-elimination tournament involving the four teams that qualified from the quarter-finals. There were two rounds of matches: a semi-final stage leading to the final to decide the champions. The final tournament began with the semi-finals on 17 June and ended with the final on 21 June at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid. Spain won the tournament with a 2–1 victory over the Soviet Union. 1964 European Nations' Cup
The 1964 European Nations' Cup was the second edition of the UEFA European Championship. The final tournament was held in Spain. It was won by the hosts 2–1 over the defending champions, the Soviet Union. The tournament was a knockout competition; 29 teams entered (Greece withdrew after being drawn against Albania). The Soviet Union, Austria and Luxembourg received byes to the round of 16. The teams played home-and-away matches until the semi-finals; the final four teams would move on to the final tournament, whose host was selected after the teams became known. Luxembourg proved to be the giant-killers of the qualifying rounds; they beat the Netherlands 3–2 on aggregate (1–1 and 2–1), and then drew with Denmark 3–3 and 2–2, before losing the replay 1–0. Amancio Amaro
Amancio Amaro Varela, (born 16 October 1939), commonly known simply as Amancio, is a Spanish former football player. Nicknamed ''El Brujo'' (The Magician) he played outside right for Deportivo de La Coruña, Real Madrid, and the Spain national team. Playing career Early career Amancio began his career aged 15 at local side Victoria CF, in the district of Falperra–Santa Lucía. Carlos Lapetra
Carlos Lapetra Coarasa (29 November 1938 – 24 December 1995) was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward. He spent ten of his 11 years as a professional with Zaragoza, appearing in 279 official games (62 goals) and winning three major titles with the club. A Spain international during the 1960s, Lapetra represented the country at the 1964 European Nations' Cup and the 1966 World Cup, winning the former tournament. Luis Suárez (footballer, Born 1935)
Luis Suárez Miramontes (; born 2 May 1935) is a Spanish former professional footballer and manager. He played as a midfielder for Deportivo de La Coruña, España Industrial, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, Sampdoria and the Spain national team. Marcelino Martínez
Marcelino Martínez Cao (; born 29 April 1940), known simply as Marcelino, is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a striker. Club career Marcelino was born in Ares, Province of A Coruña, Galicia. In 1959 he signed with Real Zaragoza from local Racing de Ferrol, going on to remain with the former club until his retirement 11 years later. Ignacio Zoco Esparza (31 July 1939 – 28 September 2015) was a Spanish footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He spent 12 years of his professional career with Real Madrid, appearing in more than 400 official matches and winning ten major titles. Isacio Calleja García (6 December 1936 – 4 February 2019) was a Spanish professional Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), defender. Club career Calleja was born in Valle de Cerrato, Province of Palencia. Ferran Olivella Pons (born 22 June 1936) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a defender. Club career Born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Olivella joined FC Barcelona's youth ranks at the age of 17. He started playing as a senior with neighbouring SD España Industrial in the Segunda División, returning to the Camp Nou in 1956. Feliciano Muñoz Rivilla (21 August 1936 – 6 November 2017) was a Spanish footballer who played as a right back. He spent the better part of his 16-year senior career with Atlético Madrid, playing 356 competitive games and scoring seven goals. He won four major honours with that club, including the 1965–66 edition of La Liga.
