1963–64 Iraq Central FA First Division
The 1963–64 Iraq Central FA First Division was the 16th season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). Prior to the season, Aliyat Al-Shorta won promotion by beating Al-Omma 3–1 after extra time on 29 June 1963. The tournament started on 31 October 1963, and the winners of the league were Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya who earned their third title. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya's Amer Jameel and Ammo Baba won the top scorer and best player awards respectively. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya also beat Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha 3–0 in the Iraq Central FA Altruism Cup on 25 May 1964. Iraq Central FA League
The Iraq Central FA League, previously named the Iraq FA Baghdad League ( ar, دوري الاتحاد العراقي لمنطقة بغداد) and also known as the League of the Institutes ( ar, دوري المؤسسات, ''Dawri Al-Muassasat'') due to containing a number of teams representing different Iraqi institutes, was the top-level division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities between 1948 and 1973. It was controlled by the Iraq Central Football Association and was played under a variety of different formats including a double-elimination format, a round-robin format and a double round-robin format. It was one of four regional league championships played in Iraq at the time, with the others being in Basra, Kirkuk and Mosul. Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya
Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya ( ar, فريق الكلية العسكرية, lit=''Military College''), known up until 1958 as Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya Al-Malakiya, was an Iraqi football team founded in 1937 in Baghdad. They were the runners-up of Iraq's first ever national cup when they lost the final of the 1948–49 Iraq FA Cup to Sharikat Naft Al-Basra. They were also the first ever winners of the Iraq Central FA League, a regional league for teams from Baghdad and its neighbouring cities, when they earned the title in 1948–49. Their final season in the top-flight was 1969–70 when they were relegated to the region's second-tier. Al-Naqil FC
Al-Naqil Sports Club ( ar, نادي النقل الرياضي, meaning ''Transport Sports Club''), was an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad that was founded in 1937 under the name Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed ( ar, السكك الحديد, meaning ''Railways''). They were renamed Al-Naqil in 1974, competing in the first season of the Iraqi Premier League (the top tier of Iraqi club football) and finishing as runners-up. The club was dissolved in 1975 as they had no administration or financial backing. Their football players left to join newly-promoted club Al-Zawraa, who went on to become one of Iraqi football's most successful clubs. Al-Naqil won one trophy in their existence, which was the Independent Baghdad Tournament in 1973, a tournament held to allow teams to continue playing matches after the premature end to the 1972–73 Iraq Central FA First Division. Amanat Baghdad Sport Club ( ar, نادي أمانة بغداد الرياضي, lit=Mayoralty of Baghdad) is a football team based in Karkh District, Baghdad, Iraq, that competes in the Iraq Division One, the second tier of Iraqi football. Al-Shorta Sports Club ( ar, نادي الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Sports Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Al-Rusafa, Baghdad. It has teams in 17 different sports, more than any other Iraqi club, and the best known section of the club is the football team, whose origins date back to 1932. In 1974, following the Iraq Football Association's decision to implement a clubs-only policy for domestic competitions, Al-Shorta were established as a sports club. Quwat Salahaddin ( ar, قوات صلاح الدين, lit=''Salahaddin Forces'') was an Iraqi football team based in Habbaniyah which competed in the Iraq Central FA League from the 1962–63 season until the 1972–73 season. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya ( ar, نادي القوة الجوية الرياضي, lit=Air Force Club) is an Iraqi sports club based in Rusafa District, Baghdad that competes in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Founded in 1931, it is the oldest existing club in Iraq. Ammo Baba
Emmanuel Baba Dawud (27 November 1934 – 27 May 2009), better known as Ammo Baba ( ar, عمو بابا, syr, ܥܡܘ ܒܒܐ), was an Iraqi Assyrian football player and coach of the Iraq national football team. He scored the first international goal for Iraq in 1957 against Morocco at the 2nd Pan Arab Games in Beirut and later returned to the team as the coach in 1978. Playing career Ammo Baba was born in Baghdad, Iraq, of Assyrian ethnicity. He emerged in the Middle Eastern football scene at the age of 16 at a 1951 Pan Arab School Championship in Cairo playing for the Iraq against the home nation Egypt. He had been discovered by Iraqi schoolboys' coach Ismail Mohammed while playing for the Liwa Al-Dulaim school province team. Aliyat Al-Shorta Sport Club ( ar, نادي آليات الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Machinery Sport Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad. Its football team plays in the Iraq Division Two. History The Aliyat Al-Shorta team was founded in 1961 by the Police Games Committee.
