1963 Small Club World Cup
The 1963 Small Club World Cup was the seventh edition of the Small Club World Cup, a tournament held in Venezuela between 1952 and 1957, and in 1963 and in 1965. It was played by three participants in double round robin format, and featured players like Evaristo, Hilderaldo Bellini, Cecilio Martinez, Custódio Pinto, Francisco Gento and Ferenc Puskás. Controversies Di Stefano kidnapping On the night of 24 August 1963, the Venezuelan revolutionary group Armed Forces of National Liberation (FALN), kidnapped the player Alfredo Di Stéfano ( Real Madrid) at gunpoint from the Potomac Hotel, located in Caracas. The kidnapping received the codenamed "Julián Grimau", after the Spanish communist Julián Grimau García, was executed by firing squad in Spain, in April 1963, during Francisco Franco's dictatorship. Francoist Spain ( es, España franquista), or the Francoist dictatorship (), was the period of Spanish history between 1939 and 1975, when Francisco Franco ruled Spain after the Spanish Civil War with the title . Enrique Pérez Díaz (28 December 1938 – 10 February 2021), known as Pachín, was a Spanish football defender and manager. Club career Born in Torrelavega, Cantabria, Pachín signed with Real Madrid in 1959 from Segunda División club CA Osasuna. He made his La Liga debut on 11 September 1960 in a 1–0 away loss against Atlético Madrid, then proceeded to be a starter in that and the following four seasons. Pachín left the ''Merengues'' in May 1968, having appeared in 218 competitive games and scored two goals. He won 11 major titles during his spell, including seven national championships and the 1960 and 1966 editions of the European Cup, contributing to the latter conquests with eight appearances and a total of 32 during his career. Lucien Muller
Lucien Muller-Schmidt (born 3 September 1934) is a French former football player and manager who played as a midfielder. He was part of France at FIFA World Cup 1966 but did not play any match. Career Born in Bischwiller, Muller started out in Alsace, his native region, and then made a name for himself with the Stade de Reims, with whom he was twice crowned French champion. He then moved to Real Madrid, with whom he played in the European Cup final in 1964 and won the league three times. He later moved to FC Barcelona. Although he was touted as the successor to Raymond Kopa, his performances in the blaugrana shirt never matched his club performances. Amancio Amaro Varela, (born 16 October 1939), commonly known simply as Amancio, is a Spanish former football player. Nicknamed ''El Brujo'' (The Magician) he played outside right for Deportivo de La Coruña, Real Madrid, and the Spain national team.
