German Television
Television in Germany began in Berlin on 22 March 1935, broadcasting for 90 minutes three times a week. It was home to the first public television station in the world, named ''Fernsehsender Paul Nipkow''. In 2000, the German television market had approximately 36.5 million television households, making it the largest television market in Europe. Nowadays, 95% of German households have at least one television receiver. All the main German TV channels are free-to-air. History In 1948 the British occupation forces allowed NWDR to broadcast television programmes for the British zone. Other regional networks also started to launch television in their own areas. Meanwhile, the GDR was launching its own television service, Deutscher Fernsehfunk (DFF), based on the Soviet Union, Soviet model. ''heute'' (; German for ''today'') is a television news program on the German channel ZDF. The main program is broadcast at 19:00, and includes news, with an emphasis on political news from Germany, Europe and the world, plus 'mixed' news from cultural life or entertainment, and the sports news with an extra presenter. The weather forecast comes up about 19:22 after a break with commercials. For many years, the opening sequence of each broadcast featured an analogue clock, a signature element of the program. On July 19, 2021; the opening sequence switched to a digital clock along with updated graphics and music, along with a new anchor desk and set. The newscast ''heute'' of ZDF and the 20:00- ''Tagesschau'' of Das Erste are the main broadcasts of German public TV starting the evening programme. ''Tagesschau'' (German for ''Review of the Day'') is a German national and international television news service produced by the editorial staff of ARD-aktuell on behalf of the German public-service television network ARD. The main edition of the programme is aired at 20:00 (08:00 pm) on Das Erste. It is also simulcast on several ARD-affiliated networks, including NDR Fernsehen, RBB Fernsehen, SWR Fernsehen, WDR Fernsehen, hr-fernsehen, 3sat, Phoenix, and ARD-alpha. It also broadcasts for most of the day on tagesschau24. In addition, recorded ''Tagesschau'' newscasts can also be seen via YouTube internationally. Thomas Hermanns
Thomas Hermanns (born 5 March 1963) is a German TV presenter, comedian, screenwriter and director. He is the founder of the comedy show ''Quatsch Comedy Club''. Early life Hermanns was born in Bochum. During his childhood he lived in Nuremberg. After school he studied theatre. Career In 1992, Hermanns started the comedy show ''Quatsch Comedy Club''. The show has been on German channel ProSieben since 1996. In 2003, the show moved to the Theatre Friedrichstadtpalast in Berlin. Hermanns has written and produced different comedy shows on TV, including ''Zapped'' (1998), ''Back to Life'' (2000) and ''Paranoid'' (2004) for Michael Mittermeier, Gayle Tufts and Cora Frost. Hermanns was a director for ''Grease'' and ''Es fährt ein Zug nach Nirgendwo''. Jens Riewa
Jens Riewa (born 2 July 1963) is a German television presenter and broadcast news analyst for the ''Tagesschau'', a programme produced by the German broadcaster ARD. Childhood and youth Jens Riewa grew up in Lübben. He did his Abitur in Lübben in 1982. After this he spent a prolonged three years' military service with the National People's Army. Professional training After having given up his studies for building industry technology at the Verkehrshochschule in Dresden, he underwent training as an air traffic controller. Then he was trained in voice work, as well as presenting for radio at the Berliner Rundfunk for two years. Career 1988 he passed an application test for a position as a broadcast news analyst for the DFF. After that, he worked for the youth radio DT 64. Cordula Stratmann
Cordula Stratmann (born 10 November 1963) is a German comedian. Life After taking the ''Abitur'' school-leaving examination, Stratmann studied social work at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia, in Cologne. During her work at the family counselling section of the Pulheim youth welfare office she also trained as a family therapist. For the carnival season in 1992, she invented the character "''Annemie Hülchrath''". Stratmann had her first television appearances as the host of the comedy shows ''Manngold'' and ''Sonst gerne'' on tm3 and on ZDF. In 1998, she acted in '' Zimmer frei!'' as "Annemie Hülchrath".
