The 1963 Hardin–Simmons Cowboys football team was an American football team that represented Hardin–Simmons University as an independent during the 1963 NCAA College Division football season. In its first and only season under head coach Floyd Huggins, the team compiled a 2–6–1 record. Floyd Huggins
Floyd L. Huggins (April 18, 1928 – March 26, 2011) was an American football player and coach. Following a career at the University of Florida and service in the Korean War, Huggins spent one season playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He served as the head football coach at Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas from 1960 to 1962. The 1963 Wichita Shockers football team was an American football team that represented Wichita University (now known as Wichita State University) as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference during the 1963 NCAA University Division football season. In its second season under head coach Marcelino Huerta, the team compiled a 7–2 record (3–1 against conference opponents), won the MVC championship, and outscored opponents by a total of 233 to 117. The team played its home games at Veterans Field, now known as Cessna Stadium. Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells was a senior linebacker on the team. Fouts Field was a stadium at the University of North Texas, located in Denton, Texas. Its primary use from its opening in 1952 until 2010 was as the home field for North Texas Mean Green football. Over its 59-year history, Fouts Field was the college home of players such as Joe Greene, Abner Haynes, and Steve Ramsey.
