István Kausz
István Kausz (18 August 1932 – 3 June 2020) was a Hungarian fencer. He won a gold medal in the team épée event at the 1964 Summer Olympics. Born in Budapest, Kausz competed for Budapest Vasas Sports Club before moving to Budapest Progress and then finally moving to OSC in 1957 until 1970 when he retired. Kausz started out as a pentathlete, he would later just concentrate on the Épée form of fencing. Kausz was part of the Hungarian team that won the épée team gold at the 1959 World Fencing Championships, which was held in his home city of Budapest, the following year he competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics. In the individual épée event, Kausz managed to get through three rounds before finishing last in his semi-final group, in the team épée, the team reached the semi-finals before losing to Great Britain and then lost to the Soviet Union team in the contest for the bronze medal. The World Fencing Championships is an annual competition in fencing organized by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE; ''International Fencing Federation'' in English). Contestants may participate in Foil (fencing), foil, épée, and Sabre (fencing), sabre events. History The FIE first organized an international fencing championship in Paris, France in 1921. The competition in its early years was named the European Championships (''Championnats d'Europe''), and the initial participants were members of the fencing federations of the FIE. In 1921, the only event was men's épée individual. In 1922 and 1923, men's sabre individual was also held. In 1925, only men's sabre individual was held. Katalin Juhász ( hu, Juhász Katalin, Tóth Gézáné, born Juhász Katalin; born 24 November 1932 in Hódmezővásárhely) was a Hungarian people, Hungarian foil Fencing, fencer. From 1947, she was the fencer of ''Szegedi Postás'', from 1950 the fencer of ''Szegedi Haladás'', from 1957 she played in ''OSC'' (''Orvosegyetemi Sport Club'', Sport Club of the University of Medicine). From 1957 to 1967, she was a member of the Olympic team of Hungary. During her career, she won two Olympic and seven world championship medals. She stopped active sport in 1967. Olga Szabó-Orbán
Olga Szabó-Orbán ( Orbán, 9 October 1938 – 5 January 2022) was a Romanian foil fencer, world champion in 1962, and team world champion in 1969. A five-time Olympian, she won an individual silver medal in 1956 and team bronze medals in 1968 and 1972. Career Orbán was born into a Hungarian minority in Transylvania. She took up fencing at the relatively late age of 14 after her teacher Ecaterina Bartoș led the whole class to the fencing hall, where her husband Tibor was a coach. Her talent became rapidly apparent and she was placed under the responsibility of coach Ludovic Ozoray at club Progresul Cluj. She won in 1954 her first national championship in the junior category, followed in 1955 by a title in the senior category. Yves Dreyfus (17 May 1931 – 16 December 2021) was a French epee fencer who held two medals as part of the French Olympic épée team. Life and career Dreyfus was born in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and was Jewish. He survived the Nazi occupation of France as a child despite being Jewish by taking the name Yves Doucet. Dreyfus was a three-time Olympian for France and won two bronze medals. At the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne at the age of 25 he won a bronze medal in team epee. At the 1960 Olympics in Rome at the age of 29 he came in 6th in individual epee and tied for 9th with the French epee team.
