The 1962 European Baseball Championship was held in the Netherlands and was won by the Netherlands for the fifth time in a row. Italy finished as runner-up. European Baseball Championship
The European Baseball Championship is the main championship tournament between national baseball teams in Europe, governed by the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB). History Italy won the inaugural European Baseball Championship in , and the competition has since been dominated by the Italian team and the Dutch team. As of 2010, it is held every other year, in even-numbered years until 2019 and then in odd-numbered years, with a total of 34 European Baseball Championships having been played. Qualification The current European Baseball Championship classification system divides the national teams into three pools, those being A, B, and C. Teams in Pool A are automatically qualified for the next championship. The two best teams in Pool B will also qualify for the next championship. The two best teams in Pool C will promote to Pool B. Netherlands National Baseball Team
The Netherlands national baseball team is the national baseball team of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, representing the country in international men's baseball. They are currently ranked as the best team in the WBSC Europe, and the team is also ranked ninth in the WBSC World Rankings. The Netherlands participated in the Summer Olympic Games in Baseball at the 1996 Summer Olympics, 1996, Baseball at the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2000, Baseball at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004, and Baseball at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008. Ron Fraser
Ronald George Fraser (June 25, 1933 – January 20, 2013) was the college baseball coach at the University of Miami from 1963 to 1992. Nicknamed the "Wizard of College Baseball," he was one of the most successful coaches in NCAA baseball history and was also responsible for bringing college baseball to a new level of public awareness. The Miami Hurricanes baseball team went from being on the brink of being "contracted" to being the toast of college baseball under Fraser's tenure. Early years as player and coach Born and raised in Nutley, New Jersey, Fraser was a three-sport letterman at Nutley High School where he graduated in 1953. After graduation, he played baseball for Florida State University from 1954 to 1956 as a relief pitcher. At Florida State, he joined Theta Chi.
