The 1962 Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré was the 16th edition of the cycle race and was held from 28 May to 3 June 1962. The race started in Chamonix and finished at Grenoble. Raymond Mastrotto
Raymond Mastrotto ( Auch, 1 November 1934 — Labatut, 11 March 1984) was a French professional road bicycle racer. In 1962, Mastrotto won the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. At the end of his career, in 1967, he also won a stage of the 1967 Tour de France. In 1968, Mastrotto had to end his career after he was hit by a motorist during a training. Critérium Du Dauphiné
The Critérium du Dauphiné, before 2010 known as the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, is an annual cycling road race in the Dauphiné region in the southeast of France. The race is run over eight days during the first half of June. It is part of the UCI World Tour calendar and counts as one of the foremost races in the lead-up to the Tour de France in July, along with the Tour de Suisse in the latter half of June. The race was inaugurated in 1947 by a local newspaper, the ''Le Dauphiné libéré, Dauphiné Libéré'', which served as the event's title sponsor until 2009. Since 2010 Critérium du Dauphiné, 2010 the race has been organized by Amaury Sport Organisation, ASO, which also organizes most other prominent French cycling races, notably the Tour de France, Paris–Nice and Paris–Roubaix. Juan Campillo
Juan Campillo García (16 August 1930 – 28 February 1964) was a professional road bicycle racer between 1953 and 1963. Career Campillo competed in five Vuelta a Españas and four Tour de Frances, with his best result being fifth overall in the 1960 Vuelta a España. Retirement and death Campillo retired from racing at the end of the 1963 season and used his savings to buy a restaurant in Andorra. On 28 February 1964, the day before its opening, he was crushed by a truck and died aged 33, leaving his six-year-old son an orphan after his mother died giving birth to him. José Gómez del Moral (4 December 1931 – 7 August 2021) was a Spanish road racing cyclist. He was a professional cyclist from 1955 to 1963. During this time he won the Volta a Catalunya and the Vuelta a Andalucía in 1955 and the Vuelta a Colombia in 1957. He was the second, and last, non-Colombian winner of the Vuelta a Colombia of the 20th century. He was the brother of cyclist Antonio Gómez del Moral. Hennes "Hans" Junkermann (6 May 1934 – 11 April 2022) was a German professional racing cyclist who won 35 road races in 18 seasons from 1956 to 1973. He won the German National Road Race in 1959, 1960, and 1961. Biography Junkermann was born in St. Tönis, near Krefeld, Rhine Province. He excelled in mountainous stage races and hard one-day events. He won nine Six Day races and the European Madison championship in 1965. He rode the Tour de France eight times. Junkermann showed class as an amateur and was approached twice in 1954 to defect to the GDR and become a paid amateur, but he wanted to stay in West Germany and be a professional. He turned professional in 1955 season for the small Bauer team. In May 1957 he won Züri-Metzgete, followed by fourth in the Tour de Suisse, the start of his excellent record in the Swiss tour, a hilly stage race. Alcyon (cycling Team)
Alcyon was a French professional cycling team that was active from 1905 to 1959, and returned in 1961 and 1962. It was started by Alcyon, a French bicycle, automobile and motorcycle manufacturer. History The team won the Tour de France four times before World War I with François Faber in 1909, Octave Lapize in 1910, Gustave Garrigou in 1911 and Odile Defraye in 1912. Alcyon won the team prize at the Tour de France from 1909 to 1912 and then from 1927 to 1929. Immediately after the First World War, Alcyon like many other bicycle companies joined a Consortium that employed many riders under the La Sportive name. This consortium would win the Tour de France from 1919 to 1921. The Consortium stopped in 1922 and the member companies which included Automoto, Peugeot and Alcyon restarted up their separate cycling teams.
