The 1962 BC Lions finished the season in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 7–9 record and failed to make the playoffs. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division (CFL), East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Tom Brown (Canadian Football)
Tom Brown (born December 5, 1936) is a former professional Canadian football player, and a former outstanding American college football player. He played collegiately at the University of Minnesota, and won the Outland Trophy in 1960 as the nation's best lineman. He played professional football with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League, and was made a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1984. Pat Claridge
Patrick S. Claridge (July 12, 1938 – March 8, 2012) was a Canadian football player who played for the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders. College career Claridge lettered at Washington from 1958-60. He was leading receiver and Most Improved Player on the 1960 team, which went 10-1 while beat Minnesota in the Rose Bowl 17-7 and was awarded the national championship by the Helms Athletic Foundation. CFL career He won the Grey Cup with the Lions in 1964. He played college football at the University of Washington with his brother Bruce, who also played in the CFL. He was later a businessman following his retirement from football. Lawrence "Sonny" Homer (July 8, 1936 – February 22, 2006) was a professional Canadian football wide receiver who played eleven seasons in the Canadian Football League for the BC Lions. Tom Larscheid (born April 6, 1940) is a former Vancouver-based radio sports broadcaster and football player. After a career playing college and CFL football, he was the colour commentator for the CFL's BC Lions and the NHL's Vancouver Canucks for many years. After 45 years in broadcasting and covering the Canucks for 27 seasons, he did his last game on October 9, 2010 for the 2010-11 season opener. Early life and sports career Larscheid was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in California, was a running back for Utah State University, where he was an All-American in 1960. In that year he led the nation with a rushing average of 8.4 yards. Willie Fleming
Willie Fleming (born February 2, 1939) is a former professional Canadian football player with the Canadian Football League's BC Lions. Fleming played collegiately as a halfback at the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the Hawkeyes' 1959 Rose Bowl championship team. He is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and the BC Lions Wall of Fame. Fleming's number 15 jersey is one of eight numbers retired by the Lions. In 2003, Fleming was voted a member of the BC Lions All-Time Dream Team as part of the club's 50th anniversary celebration. Joe Kapp
Joseph Robert Kapp (born March 19, 1938) is an American former football player, coach, and executive. He played college football as a quarterback at the University of California, Berkeley. Kapp played professionally in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Calgary Stampeders and the BC Lions and then in the National Football League (NFL) with the Minnesota Vikings and the Boston Patriots. Kapp returned to his alma mater as head coach of the Golden Bears from 1982 to 1986. He was the general manager and president of the BC Lions in 1990.
