1961–62 Tweede Divisie
The Dutch Tweede Divisie in the 1961–1962 season was contested by 15 teams. This was the last season the teams would play in a single division. Due to a realignment in the Eerste Divisie, the Tweede Divisie would be expanded from one group to two, while the Eerste Divisie would become one league instead of two, meaning many teams would be relegated to this league next season. Since it seemed necessary that some teams would have to be relegated to amateur football, play-offs for the 9th and 12th place were played. However, eventually only the last place finisher was actually relegated, as two teams from the Eerste Divisie moved straight to the amateurs. Willem II (), also known as Willem II Tilburg, is a Dutch football club based in Tilburg, Netherlands. They play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2021–22 season. The club was founded on 12 August 1896 as ''Tilburgia''. On 12 January 1898, the club was renamed ''Willem II'' after Dutch king William II of the Netherlands (1792–1849), who, as Prince of Orange and commander of the Dutch army, had his military headquarters in Tilburg during the Belgian uprising of 1830, spent much time in the city after becoming king, and died there. FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam ( en, Blue-White) was a Dutch football club from Amsterdam. The name referred to the colours of their uniform, blue and white. History Founded on 10 May 1902 as a local club in the Kinkerbuurt area of Amsterdam, from 1928 it started to play its home matches in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. Football Club Groningen () is a Dutch professional association football club based in Groningen, province of Groningen. Founded on 16 June 1971 as the successor of GVAV, the team compete in the Eredivisie, the highest tier of Dutch football. Groningen played their inaugural season in the Eredivisie, before the side were relegated to the Eerste Divisie in 1973–74 as they got into financial difficulties.
