Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (Reykjavík Football Club), often shortened to KR or KR Reykjavík, is an Icelandic football club based in the Vesturbær district of the capital, Reykjavík. KR is the oldest and most successful club in Icelandic football, having won the Besta deild karla championship 27 times, including the first season in 1912. It is also the most successful club in the Icelandic men's Cup, with 14 titles including the first in 1960 and most recent in 2014. Þór Beck
Þórólfur "Þór" Beck (21 January 1940 – 18 December 1999), also known as Thor Beck and Tottie Beck, was an Icelandic professional footballer who played as a striker. Biography Þórólfur was born in Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland, on 21 January 1940, the son of Eiríkur Þórólfsson Beck (1918–1951) and Rósbjörg Hulda Magnúsdóttir (1919–1981). He had one sister, Guðrún Eiríksdóttir Beck, born in 1941. After his football career ended, Þór returned to live in Reykjavík and died in his home in the city on 18 December 1999, at the age of 59. Career Þór began his career in his native Iceland with KR, making his senior debut in 1958. ''Knattspyrnufélagið Fram'' (''Fram Football Club'') is an Icelandic sports club, best known for its football and handball teams. It was founded on 1 May 1908 in Reykjavík. It was based at Safamýri, in the Háaleiti og Bústaðir district near Reykjavík city centre before slowly moving operations to the newly established Grafarholt district. The Valur men's football team, commonly known as Valur, is the men's football department of the Knattspyrnufélagið Valur multi-sport club. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland, and currently plays in the Besta deild karla, the top-tier men's football league in Iceland. The team plays it home games at Hlíðarendi located in Reykjavík. Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar, abbreviated KA, is an Icelandic multi-sport club based in Akureyri in the north of Iceland. The club was founded in 1928.
