Nemzeti Bajnokság I
The Nemzeti Bajnokság (, "National Championship"), also known as NB I, is the top level of the Hungarian football league system. The league is officially named OTP Bank Liga after its title sponsor OTP Bank. UEFA currently ranks the league 28th in Europe. Twelve teams compete in the league, playing each other three times, once at home, once away, and the third match is played at the stadium that the last match was not played at. At the end of the season, the top team enters the qualification for the UEFA Champions League, while the runner-up and the third place, together with the winner of the Magyar Kupa enter the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification rounds. The bottom two clubs are relegated to Nemzeti Bajnokság II, the second-level league, to be replaced by the winner and the runner up of the NB2. János Göröcs (8 May 1939 – 23 February 2020) was a Hungarian footballer. He played for the club Újpesti Dózsa as a striker and a midfielder, and later for Tatabányai Bányász. Ferenc Szusza (1 December 1923 – 1 August 2006) was a Hungarian footballer who played as a forward. He was a top division player for Újpest FC from 1941 to 1960. He made 24 appearances for the Hungary national team and was a four-time champion with Újpest FC. Career As of 2021, Szusza was the all-time second-top scorer in Hungary's top division, and the 11th highest among all top division players in the world. Szusza played for Hungary, but was a surprise omission from the side that won gold at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was disciplined by then manager Gusztáv Sebes after an incident following a match against the Soviet Union in Moscow in May 1952. Szusza would only make one further appearance for Hungary, in 1956. After his football career, Szusza became a manager. Lajos Tichy (21 March 1935 – 6 January 1999), nicknamed "The Nation's Bomber", was a Hungarian footballer. He is the most prolific goalscorer in total matches in recorded history according to RSSSF with over 1912 goals scored in over 1301 matches and the most prolific goalscorer in total matches in one season in recorded history according to RSSSF with 201 goals scored in 85 matches. He played for the club Budapest Honvéd FC, scoring 247 goals in 320 league games. Flórián Albert
Flórián Albert (15 September 1941 – 31 October 2011) was a Hungarian professional football player, manager and sports official, who was named European Footballer of the Year in 1967. Nicknamed "The Emperor", he played as a forward, and has been described as one of the most elegant footballers of all time. A club legend of Ferencvárosi TC, Albert joined the team as a schoolboy and spent his whole playing career at ''Fradi''. He also starred for Hungary, winning 75 international caps and scoring 31 goals. He was joint top-scorer at the 1962 World Cup with four goals and played a key role in Hungary's third-place finish at the European Championship in 1964.
