1959–60 Kangaroo Tour
The 1959–60 Kangaroo tour was the tenth Kangaroo tour, in which the Australian national rugby league team traveled to Europe and played thirty-seven matches against British, French and Italian teams, including the Ashes series (rugby league), Ashes series of three Rugby league#Competitions, Test matches against Great Britain Lions, Great Britain, two Test matches against the France national rugby league team, French and an additional two non-Test matches against an Italian representative team. It followed the tour of 1956-57 Kangaroo tour, 1956-57 and the next was staged in 1963-64 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain and France, 1963-64. Clive Churchill
Clive Bernard Churchill AM (21 January 1927 – 9 August 1985) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer and coach in the mid-20th century. An Australian international and New South Wales and Queensland interstate representative , he played the majority of his club football with and later coached the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The Leigh Leopards are a professional rugby league club based in Leigh, Greater Manchester, England, who compete in the Betfred Super League. Andrew John Brown (20 February 1936 – 15 April 2022) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. An Australian international and New South Wales interstate representative five-eighth, and later lock forward, he played club football in Sydney's NSWRFL Premiership, captaining Newtown and later Penrith in their inaugural season. Ron Boden
Ronald James Boden (16 October 1936 – 24 August 2015) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. He played for Parramatta as a centre and also played for Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. Early life Born on 16 October 1936 in Coonamble, New South Wales, Boden grew up there before moving to Toowoomba in Queensland and played in the local competition after being spotted by coach former North Sydney player Duncan Thompson. Dud Beattie
Dud Beattie (27 April 1934 – 19 April 2016) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. An Australian international and Queensland representative prop forward, he played in Ipswich, Queensland for the Railways club. Career Beattie along with Noel Kelly and Gary Parcell, helped Ipswich dominate the Bulimba Cup and all three were selected for the Australian national side's front row. In 1959 he played in the Queensland victory over New South Wales that attracted 35,261 spectators, smashing Brisbane's previous record for an interstate match of 22,817. Also that year Beattie was selected to make his international debut for Australia, becoming Kangaroo No. 338. Drop Goal
A drop goal, field goal, or dropped goal is a method of scoring points in rugby union and rugby league and also, rarely, in American football and Canadian football. A drop goal is scored by drop kicking the ball (dropping the ball and then kicking it as it touches the ground) over the crossbar and between the goalposts. After the kick, the ball must not touch the ground before it goes over and through, although it may touch the crossbar or posts. A drop goal in rugby union is worth three points, and in rugby league a drop goal is usually worth one point (see below). Huddersfield Giants are an English professional rugby league club from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, the birthplace of rugby league, who play in the Super League competition. Billy Wilson (Australian Rugby League)
Billy Wilson (30 May 1927 – 25 March 1993) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. An Australia national and New South Wales state representative front-row forward, he captained the national team in two Tests against New Zealand in 1963 and captained-coached several of his club sides during a record length top-grade career over twenty seasons from 1948 to 1967. The Swinton Lions are a professional rugby league club based in Swinton, Greater Manchester, England, which competes in the Championship. Bradford Bulls
The Bradford Bulls are a professional rugby league club in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, playing in the Championship. They have won five Challenge Cups, six league championships and three World Club Challenges. The team jersey is predominantly white with red, amber and black chevrons.
