Marlies Göhr
Marlies Göhr (née Oelsner, born 21 March 1958 in Gera, Bezirk Gera) is a former East German track and field athlete, the winner of the 100 metres at the inaugural World Championships in 1983. She ranked in the top 10 of the 100 m world rankings for twelve straight years, ranking first in six of those years. During this time she won many medals as a sprinter at major international championships and set several world records. Biography The 1970s Competing under her maiden name of Oelsner, Marlies finished second in the 100 m in her first major international at the 1975 European Athletics Junior Championships in Athens. The following year, at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, she qualified for the 100 m final, finishing eighth, but went on to win her first Olympic gold medal on East Germany's victorious 4 x 100 m relay team. Rudi Fink
Rudi Fink (born 6 June 1958) is a retired boxer, who won the gold medal in the featherweight division (−57 kg) for East Germany at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Biography Fink took up boxing at the age of nine. He won the national title in 1977, 1979 and 1980, placing second in 1978. In 1980 he won the Olympic gold medal and was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.''Neues Deutschland'', 22 August 1980, p. 3 After the 1981 European Amateur Boxing Championships, he retired from boxing with a record of 155 wins, 5 draws and 10 losses. Margot Käßmann
Margot Käßmann (; born 3 June 1958) is a Lutheran theologian, who was '' Landesbischöfin'' (bishop) of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Hanover in Germany. On 28 October 2009, she was elected to lead the ''Evangelical Church in Germany'', a federation of Protestant church bodies in Germany.In the German context, "Evangelical" corresponds roughly to "mainline Protestant" rather than to "Evangelicalism" as that is understood in English-speaking countries. She stepped down from both offices on 24 February 2010 following a drunk-driving incident. After serving as an "Reformation Ambassador" for the 500th anniversary of Reformation, she retired in 2018. Dieter Reiter (born 19 May 1958) is a German politician and the mayor of Munich, the capital of the state of Bavaria. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party. Olaf Prenzler (born 2 April 1958) is an East German former sprinter who specialised in the 100 and 200 metres. Career Prenzler was born in 1958 in Kästorf near Gifhorn in Lower Saxony, Germany. He was a European Junior silver medallist in the 100 metres in 1977. In 1979 he was the East German 100 metres champion; he also won the national 200 metres in 1978, and 1983. Prenzler was the East German indoor 200 metres champion on three occasions. At the 1978 European Championships he won silver medals in the 200 metres and in the 4 × 100 metres relay, the latter with teammates Manfred Kokot, Eugen Ray and Alexander Thieme.
