1957 Hati Malaya
''1957: Hati Malaya'' (Malay: ''1957: The Heart of Malaya'') is a 2007 Malaysian Malay-language period historical drama film. It was released on 25 October 2007. Synopsis Four young Malaysians, Hali, Salmi, Ani and Rafiq have been assigned to do a picture book of "1957". While two of them grudgingly carry out the request made by the publisher, Hali takes on the role enthusiastically. Along the way, they find themselves immersed in the characters, emotional moments, identifying with and finding meaning in the struggle of "1957". They weave the story of independence by transporting themselves back to the past. Ordinary Malaysians who fell in love, and found their love for the country override their personal emotions. The present characters find new meaning to " Merdeka". Zainon binti Sulaiman (22 January 1903 – 2 April 1989), sometimes known as Zainon Munshi Sulaiman because her father was a language teacher or "munshi", also called Hajjah Zain or Ibu Zain, was a Malaysian educator and politician. Born in Malacca, the sixth of eight children, she received a good education through the efforts of her father, Munshi Sulaiman. In 1909 she became a pupil at the Methodist Girls' School, Tengkera, going on to Tengkera School for her secondary education in 1913. By the age of seventeen, she was running her own informal kindergarten at Pasuh Jaya Waras in Negeri Sembilan. In 1921, she became a teacher at Bandar Maharani Girls' School in Muar, where in 1924 she became head teacher. In 1927 she was appointed Supervisor of Malay Girls' Schools in the state of Johor. Sultan Sir Hisamuddin Alam Shah Al-Haj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Alaeddin Sulaiman Shah ( Jawi: ; 13 May 1898 – 1 September 1960) was the second Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaya from 14 April to 1 September 1960, and the sixth Sultan of Selangor between 1938–1942 and again from 1945–1960. Dato' Mustapha Azahari bin Maarof ( Jawi: مصطفى ازاهاري معروف; 1 January 1935 – 15 December 2014) was a Malaysian actor. He appeared in Singapore’s '' Hang Tuah'' (1959), '' 1957: Hati Malaya'' (2007) and '' Chermin'' (2007), among many other films. Maarof won the Veterans' Award presented at the 10th Malaysian Film Festival. He served on the board of National Film Development Corporation Malaysia, from which he received the Industry Icon Award in 2010. Tun Sardon bin Jubir ( ms, سعدون بن زبير, label= Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset; 19 March 1917 – 14 December 1985) was a Malaysian politician. He served as Minister of Health, Minister of Works and Communications and was the Yang di-Pertua Negeri (Governor) of Penang from 1975 to 1981. Syeikh Abdullah Fahim bin Syeikh Ibrahim ( Jawi: ; 1869 – 27 April 1961) was a Malaysian nationalist and religious scholar. He was Penang's first mufti after Independence. He was also the paternal grandfather of former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Abdullah Fahim known as “Pak Him” and “Chaiain” was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia in 1869. He was a respected Islamic scholar and had set up and ran many religious schools, also known as ''madrasah'' or ''sekolah pondok''.
