1956–57 Tweede Divisie
The Dutch Tweede Divisie in the 1956–57 season was contested by 30 teams, divided in two groups. It was the first season of the new lowest tier of Dutch professional football, organised by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). Teams could not be relegated to amateur football. RBC and Leeuwarden won the championship and were promoted to the Eerste Divisie. The composition of the league was based on the results of the previous season. The teams that had finished lowest in the Dutch amateur Eerste Klasse would play in this new league. Teams that finished higher, would start in the Eerste Divisie. The league had been divided in two, with a Tweede Divisie A and a Tweede Divisie B, each comprising 15 teams. Teams from the Tweede Divisie A were roughly from the north and east of the Netherlands, teams from the Tweede Divisie B roughly from the west and south. Tweede Divisie
Tweede Divisie ( en, Second Division) is the highest amateur (and historically the lowest professional) football league in the Netherlands. It was established in 1956, together with the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie. Between 1956 and 1960 and between 1962 and 1966, the league consisted of two divisions, Tweede Divisie A and Tweede Divisie B. The league was disbanded in 1971. Six clubs were promoted to the Eerste Divisie ( De Volewijckers, FC Eindhoven, FC VVV, Fortuna Vlaardingen, PEC and Roda JC), while the other eleven teams became amateur clubs. Plans for a new, amateur Tweede Divisie, to be made up of 4 reserve teams and 14 Topklasse clubs, were approved in a KNVB assembly in December 2014. FC Zwolle
PEC Zwolle is a Dutch football club based in Zwolle, Netherlands. They play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2021–22 season. They have played in the Eredivisie for a total of 16 seasons, reaching sixth place in 2015. They won the KNVB Cup in 2014 and also reached the final in 1928, 1977 and 2015. This is the second incarnation of the club; its predecessor of the same name went bankrupt in 1990. DHC Delft
Delfia Hollandia Combinatie, commonly known as DHC, is a football club from Delft, Netherlands. DHC is currently playing in the Sunday Hoofdklasse A League (4th tier). History DHC played professional football from 1955 to 1968. The club played its first year in the Eerste Klasse, which was later changed to Eerste Divisie. DHC finished bottom of the league in their first season of professional football and were relegated to the newly established Tweede Divisie. Three seasons later, DHC finished second in the Tweede Divisie and was promoted to the 1959–60 Eerste Divisie. DHC finished at second place twice in the Eerste Divisie. SC 't Gooi (Sport Club Het Gooi) is a sports club from Hilversum, Netherlands. The club was established on 19 October 1905 as Hilversumsche Voetbal Club Rapiditas, abbreviated as HVV 't Gooi. VV Baronie
VV Baronie is a Dutch amateur association football club based in Breda. History The club was founded on July 4, 1926, and has always been the second club of the city, being overshadowed by the far more successful NAC Breda. In 1955 the club entered into professional football in the Tweede Divisie, but failed to make a breakthrough in the local football fanbase, experiencing very low turnouts during those years. Such issues, coupled with a budget far lower than all other professional clubs, led the Dutch Football Federation to exclude Baronie from the league in 1971. Enschedese Boys
Enschedese Boys is a non-league football club from the Dutch city Enschede. In 1965 the professional team of ''De Boys'' merged with their rivals Sportclub Enschede to FC Twente (both clubs continued in non-league football). Currently ''Enschedese Boys'' plays in the Vierde Klasse (8th tier in Dutch football). History ''Enschedese Boys'' was founded on 20 April 1906 by a couple of teenagers under the name ''Lotisco''. When the club joined the Twentsche Voetbalbond (FA of Twente) a year later, the name was changed to ''Excelsior''. In 1910 the club would get its current name.
