Harry Connolly (American Football)
Harry William Connolly (July 16, 1920 January 14, 2006), also known as Mickey Connolly, was an American American football, football Halfback (American football), halfback, Fullback (gridiron football), fullback, and quarterback. After his playing career, Connolly served as a head football coach with his most notable tenure being that as head coach at Xavier University. Early life Connolly was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, in 1920 and attended Norwalk High School (Connecticut), Norwalk High School. He played high school football at Norwalk under Frank Leahy, who coached on a part-time basis while serving as the line coach at Fordham University. When Leahy became the head coach at Boston College, he recruited Connolly to play for him there. Fairfield Stadium was a stadium in Huntington, West Virginia. It was primarily used for football, and was the home field of the Marshall University football team between 1928 and 1990, prior to the opening of Joan C. Edwards Stadium. The 1955 Boston College Eagles football team represented Boston College as an independent in the 1955 college football season. Led by fifth-year head coach Mike Holovak, the Eagles compiled a record of 5–2–1. Boston College played home games at Alumni Field in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and Fenway Park in Boston. Team captain John Miller went on to play four seasons in the National Football League (NFL). The team won its first three games and was ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll after those three victories. The team suffered its first loss to Xavier, and one week later lost a close game to the Miami Hurricanes by a 14–7 score. Miami Field
Miami Field was a multi-purpose stadium at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. History It opened in 1896 as Athletic Park. It was home to the RedHawks college football team prior to the Yager Stadium opening in 1983. The stadium had a capacity of 7,240 by 1928. When it closed in 1982 capacity was 14,800. At that time, it was the second oldest college football stadium after Franklin Field. Almost immediately upon Miami Field being razed, new campus buildings were constructed on the site, the largest of which being Pearson Hall. In the final configuration, the stands were all metal, and were built above ground level. The playing field was oriented north-south.
