The 1954–55 NBA season was the Hawks' ninth season of existence, their sixth season in the NBA, and the fourth and final season in Milwaukee. After this season's conclusion, the Hawks would move again, this time to St. Louis, Missouri for the following season. There would not be another NBA franchise in Milwaukee, until the Bucks began play in 1968. Red Holzman
William "Red" Holzman (August 10, 1920 – November 13, 1998) was an American professional basketball player and coach. He is best known as the head coach of the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1967 to 1977, and again from 1978 to 1982. Holzman helped lead the Knicks to two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986. In 1996, Holzman was named one of the Top 10 Coaches in NBA History. NBA Rookie Of The Year Award
The National Basketball Association's Rookie of the Year Award is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given to the top rookie(s) of the regular season. Initiated following the 1952–53 NBA season, it confers the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy, named after the former Philadelphia Warriors head coach. Starting with the 2022–23 NBA season, winners receive the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy, named after the former Rookie of the Year winner. The winner is selected by a panel of United States and Canadian sportswriters and broadcasters, each casting first-, second-, and third-place votes (worth five points, three points, and one point, respectively). Bob Harrison (basketball)
Robert William Harrison (born August 12, 1927) is an American retired professional basketball player. A 6'1" guard from the University of Michigan, Harrison played nine seasons (1949–1958) in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Minneapolis Lakers, Milwaukee Hawks, St. Louis Hawks, and Syracuse Nationals. He averaged 7.2 points per game in his professional career and appeared in the 1956 NBA All-Star Game. Harrison coached the Syracuse Centenials during the 1976–77 Eastern Basketball Association season. Harrison later coached basketball at Kenyon College and Harvard University. On February 3, 1941, as a 13-year-old 8th grader in Toledo, Ohio, Harrison scored all 139 points during his LaGrange School team's 139–8 win over Arch Street School. Charles Henry Cooper (September 29, 1926 – February 5, 1984) was an American professional basketball player. He and two others, Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton and Earl Lloyd, became the first African-American players in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1950. Charles Edward Share (March 14, 1927 – June 7, 2012) was an American basketball player. Share has the distinction of being the first NBA draft pick ever: Share was the No. 1 draft pick in the first organized National Basketball Association draft on April 25, 1950.
