Ligue 1, officially known as Ligue 1 Uber Eats for sponsorship reasons, is a French professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the French football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Club Sportif Sedan Ardennes, commonly referred to as CS Sedan or simply Sedan (), is a French association football club based in Sedan. The club was formed in 1919 and plays its home matches at the Stade Louis Dugauguez located within the city. History The club had its best period of success during the 1950s and 1960s. Sedan won the Coupe de France twice, in 1956 and 1961, and spent the entire decade of the 1960s in the top flight. In 2012, in spite of being on pace to return to the top division, owner Pascal Urano stopped funding the club. CS Sedan finished in the relegation places for the 2012-13 season and declared bankruptcy, ultimately being demoted two divisions instead of one. The Coupe de France, formerly known as the Coupe Charles Simon, is the premier knockout cup competition in French football organized by the French Football Federation (FFF). It was first held in 1917 and is open to all amateur and professional football clubs in France, including clubs based in the overseas departments and territories. Between 1917 and 1919, the competition was called the Coupe Charles Simon, in tribute of Charles Simon, a French sportsman and the founder of the French Interfederal Committee (the ancestor of the French Football Federation), who died in 1915 while serving in World War I. The final is played at the Stade de France and the winner qualifies for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League and a place in the Trophée des Champions match. Association Sportive Troyenne et Savinienne, also known as AS Troyes-Savinienne, was a French football club based in Troyes. History The club was formed in 1931 from the merger of Troyes club Union Sportive Troyenne and AS Savinienne, a club from the town's suburbs. The newly formed club became professional in 1935, and joined Ligue 2.
