The 1953–54 Tercera División season was the 18th since its establishment. Format 111 clubs participated in 6 geographic groups. The 6 group winners were promoted to the Segunda División. The 1952–53 Tercera División season was the 17th since its establishment. Format 99 clubs participated in 6 geographic groups. One club, Tomelloso CF, withdrew at the start of the season. The 6 group winners were promoted to the Segunda División. The 6 runners-up joined the teams in 12th and 13th place in Segunda División Grupo I and the team in 13th place in Segunda División Grupo II to form one play-off group of 5 teams (Grupo I) and another of 4 teams (Grupo II). The winner and runner up of Grupo I earned a place in the Segunda División as did the winner of Grupo II. The 12th team in Segunda División Grupo II played off against Tenerife, champions of the Canarias Regional League (not part of the Tercera División). SD Erandio Club
Sociedad Deportiva Erandio Club is a football club from the Basque Country, from the city of Erandio in Biscay (Spain). The club was officially founded in 1915 and they currently play in the Honor Division, though have played twice in the Spanish second division. Erandio Club are well known as a traditional club, both within and outside of Biscay. The white and blue club is one of the few in the province whose name has appeared in the select list of champions in the Spanish state, despite their best times being back in the 1930s, 1940s and early 1950s. However, they have always been within the parameters of a very modest club. One of the key characteristics of Erandio is that all of their teams have been formed by amateur players. Burgos Club de Fútbol was a Spanish football club based in Burgos, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Arenas Club de Getxo is a Spanish football club based in the town of Getxo, near Bilbao, in the autonomous community of Basque Country.
