Board Of Control For Cricket In India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. Gujarat Cricket Team
The Gujarat cricket team is one of three first-class cricket teams representing the state of Gujarat (the other two being the Baroda cricket team and Saurashtra cricket team). Led by Parthiv Patel, Gujarat won their maiden Ranji Trophy title in the 2016–17 season, beating Mumbai in the final at Indore. In that match they made the highest successful run-chase in the final of the Ranji Trophy. It is in the Elite Group of the Ranji Trophy although it has had very little success. Arjun Naidu (3 July 1924 – 14 November 2000) was an Indian first-class cricketer who represented Rajasthan. He made his first-class debut for Rajasthan Rajasthan (; lit. Benjamin Frank
Benjamin Frank (1919 – 12 August 1986) was an Indian cricketer. He played first-class cricket for Assam, Bengal and Mysore. He played for Bengal in the 1952–53 Ranji Trophy. Frank made his first-class debut playing in the Bombay Pentangular in the 1940s. He went on to play for Mysore state, before joining the Mohun Bagan Club in Calcutta. Here he played with success against touring teams becoming the first Indian player to score a century against the West Indian side in 1948. A few years later he scored 93 against the visiting Pakistanis. Cricket writer Ramachandra Guha writes that he would have made the national side had he not come from an underprivileged background. In 1959, Benjamin Frank recommended that Kenneth Powell, a bowler for Kolar Gold Fields, switch to running. Punya Datta
Punya Datta (21 June 1924 – 12 November 2016) was an Indian cricketer. He played first-class cricket for Bengal and Cambridge University. In a first-class career spanning from 1944-45 to 1955-56, Dutta scored 1,459 runs with a highest of 143. He averaged 29.77 with the bat, scored 4 centuries and 5 fifties, and held 12 catches. He captured 41 wickets at 37.09, and his best innings figures were 5 for 52. Datta made his first-class debut for Bengal, under the captaincy of the Maharaja of Cooch Behar, against United Provinces at Eden Gardens in 1944-45. After attending Asutosh College in Calcutta he went to Trinity Hall, Cambridge. At the end of his freshman year he represented the university in 13 first-class matches in 1947, scoring 320 runs at 22.85 and taking 29 wickets at 40.68, and winning his Blue. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Team
The Uttar Pradesh cricket team, formerly United Provinces Cricket Team, is a domestic cricket team which is based in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, run by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association. The team competes in the first-class cricket tournament Ranji Trophy and limited-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Madhya Pradesh Cricket Team
The Madhya Pradesh cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It competes in the Ranji Trophy. History Holkar cricket team A Central India team competed in the Ranji Trophy between 1934–35 and 1939–40, playing 12 matches. In 1941, Holkar entered the competition, organised and managed by King Yashwantrao Holkar II belonging to the Holkar dynasty of the Marathas. In the fourteen years of its existence Holkar, which included such players as C. K. Nayudu and Mushtaq Ali, won the title four times and finished second on six other occasions. The Rajasthan cricket team is a cricket team which represents the Indian state of Rajasthan. The team won the Ranji Trophy in the 2010–11 and 2011-12 seasons, having finished runners-up eight times between 1960–61 and 1973-74. It is currently in the Ranji Trophy Elite group. The Bihar cricket team represents the state of Bihar in Indian domestic cricket competitions. It is run by Bihar Cricket Association. History 1936 to 2004 The team competed in the Ranji Trophy from 1936-37 until 2003–04. The Assam cricket team is a domestic cricket team represents the Indian state of Assam, run by the Assam Cricket Association. The Odisha cricket team (known as Orissa until 2011) is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Odisha. It is in the elite group of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
