The 1952 Volta a Catalunya was the 32nd edition of the Volta a Catalunya cycle race and was held from 7 September to 14 September 1952. The race started in Montjuïc and finished in Barcelona. The race was won by Miguel Poblet. Miguel Poblet
Miguel Poblet Orriols (18 March 1928 – 6 April 2013) was a Spanish professional cyclist, who had over 200 professional victories from 1944 to 1962. He was the first Spanish rider to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France, and in 1956 he became the first of only three riders to win stages in the three Grand Tours in the same year. (The other two are Pierino Baffi and Alessandro Petacchi.) He won the Milan–San Remo classic race on two occasions and took 26 stage wins in the three Grand Tours. His twenty-stage wins in the Giro d'Italia makes him the third most successful foreign rider in the "Giro" behind Eddy Merckx (25) and Roger De Vlaeminck (22). Poblet was of short stature who had great power, he was the first Spanish rider to be a specialist in one day races in an age when Spain only produced climbers. Francisco Masip (8 August 1926 – 25 September 2015) was a Spanish professional cyclist. He was professional from 1948 until 1960. Biography Masip was born in Santa Coloma de Gramanet on August 8, 1926, and in Catalonia. He has lived in Santa Coloma de Gramenet for his entire life. Career He was the first Spanish cyclist to participate in five consecutive Tour de France editions, between 1951 and 1955. His cycling career spanned 16 seasons, from 1945 to 1960, in which he obtained a total of 19 victories. Bernardo Ruiz Navarrete (born 8 January 1925) is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer who won the overall and climbers competition at the 1948 Vuelta a España. He went on to become the first Spaniard to take two wins in a single edition of the Tour de France in 1951, the first to finish on the overall podium at the Tour the following year, and the first to win a stage of the Giro d'Italia in 1955.
