1952 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
Elections to the Assam Legislative Assembly were held on March 27, 1952. This election was officially known as the 1951 Assam Legislative Assembly election, even though through delays, actual voting didn't take place until early 1952. Constituencies Assam Legislative Assembly, 1952 consisted of 81 single-member constituencies and 13 double-member constituencies. A total of 590 nominations were filed out of which 61 were rejected and 74 withdrew their nominations. So a total of 455 candidates contested the first legislative assembly elections in Assam. Assam Legislative Assembly
The Assam Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Assam. It is housed in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, geographically situated in present Western Assam region. The Legislative Assembly comprises 126 Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. Its term is five years, unless sooner dissolved. The Khasi Jaintia Federated State National Conference (abbreviated KJFSNC) was an organization is the Khasi-Jaintia hills, India. As of 1946 KJFSNC petitioned the British authorities to create a Khasi Jaintia Federated States within Assam, merging the existing Khasi states with areas under British direct rule. Mizo Union
Mizo Union (6 April 1946 – 12 January 1974) was the first political party in Mizoram, northeast India. It was founded on 6 April 1946 at Aizawl as the Mizo Common People's Union. At the time of Independence Day (India), independence of India from the british rule in india in 1947, the party was the only political force in the Lushai Hills (former name of Mizoram). It won the first Mizoram District Council general election under the new Dominion of India, Indian Union in 1951, and consecutively in 1957, 1962 and 1966. However, the mautam famine of 1958 and its protégé March 1966 Mizo National Front uprising, insurgency in 1966 downgraded its status, so that the party was compelled to dissolve in 1974 and merged with Indian National Congress. All People's Party (Assam)
The All People's Party or ''Sarbadal'' was a political party in Assam, northeast India. The party was founded in Dibrugarh by Ahom elites on May 8, 1945. It united different groups that sought to challenge the Indian National Congress (which the Ahom elites saw as a platform for caste Hindus) in elections. The All India Muslim League, the Tribal League and the Ahom Sabha took part in the founding of the party. The party sought to mobilise the Kachari, Muttock and Deuri communities, to compete against caste Hindus for political influence. To a large extent, the party represented tea garden labourers. During its initial period, the party demanded that the British colonial government should create a separate Ahom constituency (a demand that was not heeded by the government).
