1951–52 Serie B
The Serie B 1951–52 was the twentieth tournament of this competition played in Italy since its creation. Teams Monza, Valdagno, Piombino and Stabia had been promoted from Serie C, while Roma and Genoa had been relegated from Serie A. Events A provisional fifth relegation was added to reduce the league. FIGC’s President Ottorino Barassi imposed a playoff between the second club in B and the seventeenth in A to reduce the Serie A. Final classification Results Serie A qualification play-off Since it was decided to reduce the number of Serie A teams from 20 to 18 for the 1952-1953 season, only the top 16 teams in Serie A were guaranteed to remain there the following season, and only the first-placed team in Serie B was guaranteed a direct promotion to Serie A. The Serie B (), currently named Serie Balkrishna Industries, BKT for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie A. It has been operating for over ninety years since the 1929–30 Serie B, 1929–30 season. It had been organized by Lega Nazionale Professionisti, Lega Calcio until 2010, when the Lega Serie B was created for the 2010–11 season. Common nicknames for the league are ''campionato cadetto'' and ''cadetteria'', since ''cadetto'' is the Italian name for junior or cadet. Valdagno
Valdagno is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Vicenza, north-eastern Italy. The town was the birthplace of the textile manufacturing company Marzotto, and home to the Italian hotel chain "Jolly Hotels" Geography The town extends along the river Agno, from which Valdagno takes its name, and the homonymous valley surrounded by hills; the Piccole Dolomiti and the Alti Lessini. The presence of the river Agno influenced both the town origins and its development; in particular, it provided water to the population, increasing industrial activities especially in the textile area. The valley has a west–east orientation, allowing wind currents from the Adriatic Sea to cause climate consequences. 1952–53 Serie C
The 1952–53 Serie C was the fifteenth edition of Serie C, the third highest league in the Italian football league system. The tournament was organized in a single table for the first time. Events The league was organized into a single division of 18 teams. *5 had been relegated from Serie B after 1951–52 season; *11 had confirmed their places in the third division for the performances in 1951–52 Serie C; *2 obtained the place after a 4 teams qualification round. No team had been promoted from lower divisions in 1951–52 season. Each team played a total of 34 matches (17 at home, 17 away). The 2–1–0 point system was used for the classification. At the end of the 34th round, teams at the first two positions of the classification were promoted in Serie B for the 1953–54 season. The Serie C () is the third-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie B and Serie A. The Lega Italiana Calcio Professionistico (Lega Pro) is the governing body that runs the Serie C.
