1950–51 FC Basel Season
The 1950–51 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 57th season in their existence. It was their fifth season in Nationalliga A the top flight of Swiss football following their promotion from the Nationalliga B in the season 1945–46. For the second consecutive season Basel played their home games in the Stadion Schützenmatte in the Bachletten quartier in the southwestern edge of the city of Basel. Jules Düblin was the club's chairman for the fifth successive season. Overview Ernst Hufschmid, who had functioned as player-coach the previous three seasons, continued in this function this year. Curiosity, Hufschmid played only in one match this season and it was his last active match as player and this he played as goalkeeper. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Werner Bopp
Werner Bopp (* 12 February 1924; † 22 October 2006) was a Swiss footballer who played nearly his entire career for FC Basel. He played mainly in the position as defender. Football career Between the years 1944 and 1960 Bopp played a total of 496 games for Basel scoring a total of 20 goals. 321 of these games were in the Nationalliga A, 43 in the Swiss Cup and 132 were friendly games. He scored 13 goal in the domestic league, two in the Swiss Cup and the other five were scored during the test games. In his first season Bopp played in three test games before he played his debut in domestic league game on 18 March 1945 against Lausanne Sports. Basel were relegated at the end of this season, but they achieved immediate promotion the following season. Jean Presset
Jean Presset (* 11 October 1925; † 22 February 2017) was a Swiss footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s as goalkeeper. Even during his active football career he focused on the youth football training of several clubs, these were FC Lausanne-Sport, FC Basel and BSC Young Boys. After his active football he became member of Panathlon International and in 2004 he was rewarded as an honorary member. Jean Presset was known commonly as "Monsieur Fair Play". Football career Presset played his early active football with Lausanne-Sport. He advanced to their first team in 1947 and stayed with them for three seasons. He joined FC Basel in 1947 as youth trainer and joined their first team as reserve goalkeeper in their 1947–48 season. Oswald Capra (born 4 June 1929) is a Swiss former footballer who played as goalkeeper. Capra joined FC Basel's first team for their 1950–51 season under player-coach Ernst Hufschmid. FC La Chaux-de-Fonds is a Swiss football club based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It was founded in 1894 and used to play at the Stade Charrière. History F.C. La Chaux-de-Fonds was founded on July 4, 1894, and won the Swiss first division in the seasons 1954, 1955, 1964. The team's most recent spell in the top division was 1986–87. Werner Wenk
Werner Wenk (born 26 October 1922) is a Swiss former footballer who played in the 1940s and early 1950s as midfielder. Wenk played his youth football by FC Basel and advanced to their first team during their 1939–40 season. He played his domestic league debut for the club in the home game at the Landhof on 10 March 1940. He scored his first goal for his club during that game as Basel won 4–1 against local rivals FC Birsfelden. In the last game of the group stage in that season on 23 June Wenk scored a hat-trick as Basel won 6–1 against Solothurn. Basel were winners of the group stage and progressed to the play-off stage.
