1948 Harbor Bowl
The 1948 Harbor Bowl was an American college football bowl game played on January 1, 1948, at Balboa Stadium in San Diego, California. The game pitted the San Diego State Aztecs and the Hardin–Simmons Cowboys. This was the second edition of the Harbor Bowl. Background The Cowboys won games over Trinity (TX), Arizona, New Mexico, Houston, West Texas A&M, Texas Western and Arizona State, while losing games to San Jose State, Mississippi State, and Texas Tech. This was their fifth bowl game in 12 years. This was the first ever bowl game for the Aztecs, who went 2–2–1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Game summary In a game played in their own city (and where they used to play in until 1935), the Aztecs were flat out dominated, with the Cowboys having 545 yards on offense, as opposed to San Diego State's 126. A warren is a network of wild rodent or lagomorph, typically rabbit burrows. Domestic warrens are artificial, enclosed establishment of animal husbandry dedicated to the raising of rabbits for meat and fur. Pasadena Bowl
The Pasadena Bowl, known as the Junior Rose Bowl from 1946 to 1966 and again in 1976 and 1977, was a college football bowl game. Between 1946 and 1966 and again in 1976 and 1977, the game pitted the California Junior College football champions against the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) football teams (not always the champion) for the national championship. It was organized by the Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce. The Junior Rose Bowl became the Pasadena Bowl from 1967 to 1971. It was billed as the Junior Rose Bowl the first two years, but now featured teams from the National Collegiate Athletic Association's College and University Divisions. The bowl featured the champion of the PCAA from 1969 to 1970 and the champion of the Missouri Valley Conference in 1971. Balboa Stadium
Balboa Stadium is an American football and soccer stadium on the west coast of the United States, located in San Diego, California. Just east of San Diego High School, the original stadium was built in 1914 as part of the 1915 Panama–California Exposition, also in Balboa Park, with a capacity of 15,000. A horseshoe design that opened to the south, it was designed by the Quayle Brothers architectural firm and originally called City Stadium. The capacity was raised to 34,000 in 1961 with an upper deck for the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League (AFL); it was their home field from 1961 through 1966. Due to seismic safety concerns, the stadium was demolished in the 1970s and a smaller venue with a 3,000-seat capacity was built, opening in 1978. Owned by the City of San Diego, it is leased to the San Diego Unified School District, which is responsible for its maintenance. The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. All of its current members are public universities, and upon UC San Diego's departure on July 1, 2020, all are members of the California State University system (two of them being Cal Polys). It was founded in December 1938 and began competition in 1939. The commissioner of the CCAA is Mitch Cox. CCAA offices are located in Chico, California. The game was played in San Diego. MSU ended the 1st quarter trailing 6–0, but scored 13 in the 2nd to lead 13–6 at halftime. The 3rd quarter produced no score, and UNM scored the tying touchdown on a 2-yard run in the 4th.
