Wes Fesler
Wesley Eugene Fesler (June 29, 1908 – July 30, 1989) was an American football, basketball, and baseball player and coach of football and basketball. He was a three-sport athlete at Ohio State University and a consensus first-team selection to the College Football All-America Team three straight years (1928–1930). Fesler was later the head football coach at Wesleyan University (1941–1942), the University of Pittsburgh (1946), Ohio State (1947–1950), and the University of Minnesota (1951–1953), compiling a career record of 41–40–8. He was also the head basketball coach at Harvard University (1933–1941), Wesleyan (1941–1944) and Princeton University (1945–1946), tallying a mark of 78–139. The 1947 Indiana Hoosiers football team was an American football team that represented the Indiana University in the 1947 Big Nine Conference football season. The team compiled a 5–3–1 record (2–3–1 in conference play), and finished in tie for sixth place in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana. The team was coached by Bo McMillin, in his 14th and final year as head coach of the Hoosiers. McMillin retired from his position as head coach at the end of the year. Dick Flanagan
Richard E. Flanagan (October 31, 1927 in Sidney, Ohio – September 27, 1997) was a National Football League center who played eight seasons. Flanagan played high school football for Sidney High School and college football for Ohio State University. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 10th round of the 1948 NFL Draft. He played running back in college and his first year with the Bears. He also played linebacker and offensive guard during his professional career. Flanagan was a member of the Detroit Lions team that defeated the Cleveland Browns to win the 1952 NFL Championship. Honors The Flanagan Sports Complex in Sidney is named after him. The 1947 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan in the 1947 Big Nine Conference football season.
