1946–47 Challenge Cup
The 1946–47 Challenge Cup was the 46th staging of rugby league's oldest knockout competition, the Challenge Cup. First Round Second Round Quarter Finals Semi Finals Final Leeds reached the Wembley final for the second time, doing so without conceding a single point in the final five rounds of the tournament. However Bradford Northern beat Leeds 8-4 in the final in front of a crowd of 77,605. Trevor Foster and Emlyn Walters scored Bradford's tries and were converted by Ernest Ward. Bradford Bulls
The Bradford Bulls are a professional rugby league club in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, playing in the Championship. They have won five Challenge Cups, six league championships and three World Club Challenges. The team jersey is predominantly white with red, amber and black chevrons. In 1907, Bradford F.C., founder member of the Rugby Football League, switched codes to association football and Bradford Northern, often abbreviated to Northern, was formed by members who wished to continue rugby. Bradford Northern were renamed Bradford Bulls in 1996, at the start of Super League. Bradford's main rivalries are with Leeds, Halifax and Huddersfield. The club entered administration in 2012, and again in 2014 and 2016. Several bids were made to take over the club but none were accepted by the administrators, and so on 3 January 2017 the club went into liquidation. Emlyn Walters
Emlyn Walters (20 May 1918 – 21 January 2001) was a Welsh rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. He played club level rugby union (RU) for Glynneath RFC and Pontypridd RFC, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales, and at club level for Bradford Northern, as a , i.e. number 2 or 5. Background Emlyn Walters was born in Glynneath, Merthyr Tydfil district, Wales, and he died aged 82 in Cwmgwrach, Wales. Playing career Pontypridd RFC flyhalf Oliver Morris lodged at a house in Rosser Street, Maesycoed before he 'went North' and signed for Hunslet in November 1937, with team mate Emlyn Walters, who went on to Captain Pontypridd RFC from 1937 to 1939, before he too turned professional with Bradford Northern in July 1939.
