The 1946 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference football season was the season of college football played by the seven member schools of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) as part of the 1946 college football season. The Bethany Swedes compiled a 6–2 record and won the KCAC championship. The Ottawa Braves finished in second place and led the conference in both scoring offense (25.9 points per game) and scoring defense (3.7 points per game). Bob Tully
Robert Warren Tully (August 2, 1909 – June 12, 1981) was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach, college athletics administrator, parks and recreation director, and university professor. He was the head football coach at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, serving for three seasons, from 1946 to 1948, and compiling a record of 6–18–1. Tully was born on August 2, 1909, in Goshen, Indiana. There he attended Goshen High School, playing football and basketball and running track. He played football and baseball each for four years at Manchester College—now known as Manchester University—in North Manchester, Indiana before graduating in 1931. In July 1940, Tully was appointed the director of physical education and athletics at La Verne College—now known as the University of La Verne—in La Verne, California. Taft Stadium
Taft Stadium is a WPA-built stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It is the current home to teams from Northwest Classen High School, John Marshall High School, Classen School of Advanced Studies, Oklahoma Centennial High School, as well as a professional soccer team, Oklahoma City Energy FC. Built in 1934, the stadium closed in 2013 and reopened in 2015 following substantial renovation. As part of the renovation the seating capacity was reduced from approximately 18,000 to approximately 7,500, with the red-stone facade being the only feature left unaltered. A new all-weather track replaced a dirt track which was installed in 1946. In addition to the high school uses for which it was designed, Taft Stadium also briefly hosted professional football games in 1968 as home of the Oklahoma City Plainsmen of the Continental Football League. The 1946 Oklahoma City Chiefs football team represented Oklahoma City University as an independent during the 1946 college football season. Led by Bo Rowland in his first as head coach, the team compiled a record of 10–1. Oklahoma City was ranked second nationally among small-college teams with an average of 392.7 yards per game in total offense. The Chiefs also ranked sixth nationally in total defense, giving up an average of only 121.5 yards per game. Baldwin City is a city in Douglas County, Kansas, United States, about south of Lawrence. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 4,826. The city is home to Baker University, the state's oldest four-year university. History Early history Baldwin City began as a trail stop on the Santa Fe Trail named Palmyra. The small community consisted of a harness shop, blacksmith, hotel, lawyer, drug store, two doctors and a tavern. Fremont is a city and county seat of Dodge County in the eastern portion of the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. The population was 27,141 at the 2020 census. The 1946 Nebraska College Conference football season was the season of college football played by the nine member schools of the Nebraska College Conference (NCC) as part of the 1946 college football season. The Doane Tigers from Crete, Nebraska were led by head coach James L. Dutcher and compiled an overall record of 6–2–1 with a mark of 5–0–1 in conference play, winning the NCC championship. The Nebraska Wesleyan Plainsmen were led by head coach George W. Knight. They finished second in the conference with a 5–0–2 record in conference play and a mark of 7–0–3 overall in the regular season. They then lost to Pepperdine in the Will Rogers Bowl. Bethany College is a private Christian college in Lindsborg, Kansas. It was founded in 1881, making it one of the oldest colleges in Kansas. History Bethany College, established by Swedish Lutheran immigrants in 1881, is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Swedish-Lutheran settlers worked with the Rev.
