Joseph Jerold Verducci (November 11, 1910 – November 6, 1964) was an American football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Saint Mary's College of California from 1948 to 1949 and at San Francisco State University from 1950 to 1960; he was also the athletic director at San Francisco State. Verducci was also a member of Daly City's city council and served as its mayor. One of his fellow councilmen was National Football League player Bob St. Clair, whom he coached at San Francisco Polytechnic High School San Francisco Polytechnic High School was a public secondary school in San Francisco, California. The 1944 March Field Flyers football team represented the United States Army Air Forces' Fourth Air Force stationed at March Field during the 1944 college football season. The base was located in Riverside, California. The team compiled a 7–2–2 record, outscored all opponents by a total of 222 to 81, and was ranked No. 10 in the final AP Poll. In individual games of note, the Flyers defeated UCLA, Washington, and the San Diego Bombers, champions of Pacific Coast Professional Football League. Their losses were to the Washington Redskins of the NFL and the Randolph Field team that was ranked No. 3 in the final AP Poll. The team was coached by Major Paul J. Schissler, a former NFL coach. In its third season, the team compiled a 4–4 record, outscored opponents by a total of 96 to 70, and was ranked No. 19 in the final AP Poll. In August 1944, Lt. Jules V.
