Kent Andersson (motorcyclist)
Kent Andersson (August 1, 1942 – August 29, 2006) was a Swedish professional motorcycle road racer. He competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing between 1966 and 1975, most prominently as a member of the Yamaha factory racing team where he was a two-time 125cc World Champion. Andersson was notable for being the only Swedish rider to win an FIM road racing world championship. __TOC__ Motorcycle racing career Born in Landvetter, Sweden, Andersson rode in his first national championship races at the age of 19 in Sweden and Denmark on a Monark in the 250 cc class. He then rode a 250 cc Bultaco for the 1962 season. He proved himself to be a capable competitor. After winning the 250cc Swedish national championship in 1965, Andersson moved up to the world championships competing with Husqvarna bikes that he modified himself. Wilhelm Peterson-Berger
Olof Wilhelm Peterson-Berger ( 27 February 1867, Ullånger — 3 December 1942, Östersund) was a Swedish composer and music critic. As a composer, his main musical influences were Grieg, August Söderman and Wagner as well as Swedish folk idiom.Percy G. ''Wilhelm Peterson-Berger, An Introduction''. (Stockholm, Wilhelm Peterson-Berger Society) 1982. The composer Peterson-Berger studied at the Stockholm Conservatory from 1886–89 and then in Dresden for a year. Einar Lönnberg
Axel Johann Einar Lönnberg (24 December 1865 – 21 November 1942) was a Swedish zoologist and conservationist. Lönnberg was born in Stockholm. He was head of the Vertebrate Department of the ''Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet'' (Swedish Natural History Museum) from 1904 to 1933. In 1891 he obtained his PhD from the University of Uppsala, spending the next twelve years as an inspector in the fisheries service. During this time-frame he made scientific trips to Florida (1892 – 1893) and the Caspian Sea (1899). In 1904 he was appointed head of the department of vertebrates at the ''Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet'' in Stockholm. In 1910 – 1911 he participated in an expedition to East Africa. From 1925 to 1942 he served as prefect of the ''Kristineberg Marina Forskningsstation'' (Kristineberg Marine Zoological Station). Emma Meissner, née ''Ekström'' (30 October 1866 in Karlstad – 20 November 1942 in Stockholm) was a Swedish people, Swedish soprano and actress. Biography Emma Olivia Ekström was born in Karlstad to Johan Fredrik Ekström and Anna Brita Pettersson. She worked in the choir at ''Mindre teatern'' in Stockholm 1881–1883. Her first role was as a character in the opera ''Sjökadetten''. She was a student at the conservatory in Stockholm 1884–1885, and then studied for Fritz Arlberg (1830-1896) and Signe Hebbe (1837–1925) from 1885–1886. She then worked at Södra Teatern in Stockholm 1888–1889. She got her big breakthrough at Vasateatern in Stockholm during 1890 as Yum Yum in ''The Mikado''. Agda Östlund
Agda Maria Östlund, née Lundgren (3 April 1870 – 26 June 1942) was a Swedish Politician of the Social Democrats. She was one of the first four women to be elected to the Swedish parliament after the introduction of women suffrage. Life Agda Östlund was born in a working-class home in Köping. Her family was politically aware and encouraged her to be so as well. Her mother made sure that her brothers took as much part in the household chores as Agda. She trained and supported herself as a seamstress from the age of fourteen. She eventually founded her own sewing studio with several employees. She married the steel worker Anders Östlund, with whom she had a daughter, and moved to Stockholm in 1896. Karin Swanström
Karin Swanström (June 13, 1873 – July 5, 1942) was a Swedish actress, producer and director. Early life Swanström was born in St. Olai congregation in Norrköping. Little is known of her life before she was accepted for the Royal Dramatic Theatre school in 1890 when she was seventeen. Already in school her acting ability was acknowledged by her performance in two student plays. In 1892 she left the Royal Dramatic Theater school and was employed by The Royal Dramatic Theater and was in the ensemble for five years. In 1897 Karin Swanström went from the Royal Dramatic Theater to Selander Company, that was run by Hjalmar and Concordia Selander, for a year and then she went to Swedish Theater Company in Helsinki in 1899. Gertrud Adelborg
Gertrud Virginia Adelborg (10 September 1853 in Karlskrona – 25 January 1942) was a Swedish teacher, feminist and leading member of the women's rights movement. Biography Gertrud Adelborg was born at Karlskrona in Blekinge County, Sweden. She was the daughter of Naval Captain and nobleman Bror Jacob Adelborg (1816–1865) and his wife Hedvig Catharina af Uhr (1820–1903). She was the sister of book illustrator Ottilia Adelborg (1855–1936) and textile artist Maria Adelborg (1849–1940). She never married. Adelborg was educated by a governess at home and in girls' schools. She worked as a teacher from 1874 to 1879, and was employed at Svea Court of Appeal (Swedish: ) from 1881–1883. Jan Halvarsson
Jan Ivar "Janne" Halvarsson (26 December 1942 – 5 May 2020) was a Swedish cross-country skier. Career He competed at the 1968 Winter Olympics in the 15, 30, 50 and 4 × 10 km events and won a silver medal in the relay, finishing fifth in the 15 km and seventh in the 50 km. He won a bronze medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 1970 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. During his skiing career Halvarsson was known for his waxing skills. Therefore, after retiring he was invited to cover this area at the Swedish national team, but left after quarrels with the skiing federation. Björn Nordqvist
Björn Axel Göte Nordqvist (born 6 October 1942) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career During the 1960s and 1970s Nordqvist was captain of the Sweden national team. He played at the 1970 FIFA World Cup, 1974 FIFA World Cup and 1978 FIFA World Cup and in total won 115 international caps, which was a world record at the time. Nordqvist was the most capped Swedish player until over taken by Thomas Ravelli and others. At club level, Nordqvist won the Swedish title with IFK Norrköping and also won Dutch league and cup winners medals with PSV Eindhoven.
