1941–42 Cupa României
The 1941–42 Cupa României was the ninth edition of Romania's most prestigious Association football, football Single-elimination tournament, cup competition. The title was won by FC Rapid București, Rapid București against FC Universitatea Cluj, Universitatea Cluj-Sibiu. Format The competition is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout tournament with pairings for each round drawn at random. There are no seeds for the draw. The draw also determines which teams will play at home. Each tie is played as a single leg. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in Overtime (sports), extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, there a Replay (sports), replay will be played, usually at the ground of the team who were away for the first game. FC Rapid București
Fotbal Club Rapid 1923, commonly known as Rapid București () or simply as Rapid, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, which competes in the Liga I. It was founded in 1923 by employees of the Grivița workshops as ''Asociația Culturală și Sportivă CFR'' ("CFR Cultural and Sports Association"). Domestically, Rapid București is one of the most successful clubs in the country, having won three national titles, 13 Cupa României and four Supercupa României. Internationally, its highest achievements are reaching the quarter-finals of the 1972–73 Cup Winners' Cup and of the 2005–06 UEFA Cup, and the final of the 1940 Mitropa Cup, the latter not being played because of the Second World War. ''Carmen'' () is an opera in four acts by the French composer Georges Bizet. The libretto was written by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on the Carmen (novella), novella of the same title by Prosper Mérimée. The opera was first performed by the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 3 March 1875, where its breaking of conventions shocked and scandalised its first audiences. Bizet died suddenly after the 33rd performance, unaware that the work would achieve international acclaim within the following ten years. FC Ploiești
FC Ploieşti was a football club based in Ploieşti, Romania. It was founded in 1922 and dissolved in 1949. History In 1922, in Ploieşti, Tricolor club was formed, some of the founding members being: Gheorghiu, Jan Vasopol, Elly Roman the composer (the first president) and N. Stambolgiu. Until 1932, when the divisionary system is inaugurated, it activates in the district championship. Team used in this period: Botez – Lang, Gh. Dragomirescu – Anastasescu, M. Gloria CFR Galați
Gloria CFR Galați was a football club based in Galaţi, Galați County, Romania. It was founded in 1932 and dissolved in 1970. History The club was founded in 1932 January 1, at the initiative of the railroad workers from Galați, after the merger of ''Șoimii Gloria'' (founded in 1927) with ''CFR''. The initial colours of the jersey's were yellow-blue. The club's initial name was ''Asociația Sportivă și Culturală'' (Cultural and Sports Association). Until 1936 the team plays in the districtual championship after which it promotes to the Divizia C. One year later it qualifies to the Divizia B and after two more seasons, Gloria promotes to the Divizia A. At this level, it manages to play for two seasons, until 1941. CFR Turnu Severin is a football club based in Turnu Severin (now Drobeta-Turnu Severin), Romania. It was founded in 1928 and it won one Romanian Cup in 1943. The club was dissolved in 1958. History The railroad workers team from the Danube port of Porţile de Fier was founded in 1928, under president I. Tipărescu. The first antebellum appearance is recorded in 1939–40 (9th place in the Liga II). CFR Arad
CFR Arad was a football club based in Arad, Romania, founded in 1921. History The club was born in 1921, and just after one year they merged with CS Gloria Arad, a team founded in 1913. Under the name Gloria CFR Arad they have the best performances inclusive a second place in Divizia A 1929–30. But in 1934, after just 12 years the club fell apart in CS Gloria Arad and CFR Arad. The separation was not propitious for CFR Arad who start playing again in lower divisions, while CS Gloria Arad lived her glory years in Romanian First League. They changed several names in the next years, till 1973 when they decide to merge again, this time with Vagonul Arad, under the name of ''Unirea Arad'' between 1973–1974 and ''Rapid Arad'' between 1974 and 1978.
