The Serie A (), also called Serie A TIM for national sponsorship with TIM, is a professional league competition for football clubs located at the top of the Italian football league system and the winner is awarded the Scudetto and the Coppa Campioni d'Italia. It has been operating as a round-robin tournament for over ninety years since the 1929–30 season. It had been organized by the Direttorio Divisioni Superiori until 1943 and the Lega Calcio until 2010, when the Lega Serie A was created for the 2010–11 season. Franco Ossola
Franco Ossola (23 August 1921 – 4 May 1949) was an Italian footballer who played as a forward. With 85 goals, Ossola is the ninth highest scorer in the history of Torino behind Adolfo Baloncieri (100). He died on 4 May 1949 in the Superga air disaster when the Fiat G.212 which carried the celebrated '' Grande Torino'' team crashed into the retaining wall of the Basilica di Superga. Guglielmo Gabetto (; 24 February 1916 – 4 May 1949) was an Italian footballer who played as a striker. Aside from goalkeeper Alfredo Bodoira, he is the only player to win the Italian championship with both Torino F.C. and cross-city rivals Juventus F.C. Biography Gabetto was born in Turin, Italy, in the Aurora district of the Piedmont capital. He died in a commercial airplane tragedy as one of the victims of the 1949 Superga air disaster, when a plane carrying almost the entire Torino Football Club squad, the Grande Torino, crashed into the Superga hill near Turin. Carlo Reguzzoni (; 18 January 1908 – 16 December 1996) was an Italian footballer who played as a winger. Club career Reguzzoni was born in Busto Arsizio, in the province of Varese, Lombardy. He made his Serie A debut with Pro Patria on 6 October 1929, in a 4–2 home win over Cremonese. Romeo Menti (; 5 September 1919 – 4 May 1949) was an Italian footballer who played as a forward. He scored 145 goals in a career that spanned fifteen years. Career Born in Vicenza, Menti debuted for his hometown's Serie C club in 1935, in the same stadium that was to be dedicated to him a few years later. His older brothers Mario Menti and Umberto Menti and nephew Luigi Menti (son of Mario) all played football professionally, with Umberto playing for Juventus F.C., S.S.C. Napoli and A.C. Milan. To distinguish them, Mario was known as Menti I, Umberto as Menti II, Romeo as Menti III, and Luigi as Menti IV. In some sources, Mario was ignored and Umberto and Romeo were listed as Menti I and Menti II respectively. Amedeo Amadei
Amedeo Amadei (; 26 July 1921 – 24 November 2013) was a professional Italian football player and manager, who played as a striker. Following his death in 2013, he was one of eleven members to be inducted into the A.S. Roma Hall of Fame.
