1939–40 Serbian League
The Serbian League season of 1939–40 ( Serbian: 1939/40 Српска лига / 1939/40 Srpska liga) was a league which along the Croato-Slovenian one, will form the final group of teams to participate in the 1939–40 Yugoslav Football Championship. The clubs from the Vardar Banovina, Vrbas Banovina, Zeta Banovina, Morava Banovina Drina Banovina, and Danube Banovina competed in the Serbian League. BSK Beograd was the league champion. SK Jugoslavija and FK Slavija will be joined by the top three clubs from the Croato-Slovenian League and will play the final stage of the 1939–40 Yugoslav Football Championship. OFK Beograd ( sr-Cyrl, ОФК Београд – Омладински фудбалски клуб Београд, English: ''Belgrade Youth Football Club'') is a Serbian professional football club based in Belgrade, more precisely in Karaburma, an urban neighborhood of the municipality of Palilula. It is part of the OSD Beograd sport society. All up, the club has won 5 national championships, in the following seasons: 1930–31, 1932–33, 1934–35, 1935–36, and 1938–39; the club won these titles under their old name of BSK (Beogradski Sport Klub). Gragjanski Skopje ( mk, Гpaѓaнcки Скопје, en, FC Citizens Skopje, sh, Građanski Skoplje) was a football club from Skoplje, Yugoslavia (now Skopje, North Macedonia). The club's major achievements were the two participations in the Royal League during the period of 1923 till 1940, and playing in the Bulgarian championship between 1941 and 1944. Serbian League ( Serbian: Српска Лига / Srpska Liga) was a football league championship played between the late 1930s until 1944 in Yugoslavia. With the creation in April 1941 of the Serbian military administration, which was a quisling civil government set up by German authorities, the league became the highest level domestic football competition within the territory. FK BASK (Serbian Cyrillic: ФК БАСК) is a football club from Savski Venac, Belgrade, Serbia. It is one of the oldest clubs in Serbia. ŽAK Subotica (Serbian Cyrillic: ЖAK Cубoтицa) was a football club based in Subotica, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The club was formed in 1921 and the name comes from the initials of ''Železničarski atletski klub'' derived from the fact that the club was backed by the Yugoslav Railways company. It played in the 1935–36 Yugoslav Football Championship where it was eliminated in the round of sixteen by Slavija Osijek. Afterwards, it played in the 1940–41 Serbian League where it finished 5th out of 10. With the start of the Second World War and the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia, the city came under Hungarian occupation and the club competed in the Hungarian Second League under its Hungarian translated name, Szabadkai Vasutas AC. SK Jedinstvo Beograd () was a Serbian football club based in Belgrade, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. History Jedinstvo was formed on May 11, 1924Sportista, Belgrade 12 May 1924, page 4 by the merger of two Belgrade clubs, ''Vardar'' and ''Konkordija'', both of which competed in Belgrade Subassociation League until that year. They received the field of SK Srpski mač for use from the Belgrade municipality. At first their shirts were white with purple stripes but soon afterwards they changed to fuchsia, then green, and since then they became known as "Zeleni", ''The Greens'' in Serbian. Jedinstvo became one of the most important clubs in Belgrade during the pre-1945 period, right along BSK, SK Jugoslavija and BASK.
