The 1939 European Amateur Boxing Championships were held in Dublin, Ireland from 18 to 22 April. It was the sixth edition of the bi-annual competition was organised by the European governing body for amateur boxing, EABA. There were 71 fighters from 12 countries participating. Dublin

Herbert Runge
Herbert Runge (23 January 1913 – 11 March 1986) was a German heavyweight boxer. He won the gold medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He was born in Elberfeld, which later became part of Wuppertal, where he died as well. Amateur career Runge's biggest success was his gold medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. Olof Peder "Olle" Tandberg (10 October 1918 – 26 December 1996) was a Swedish heavyweight boxer. He was the European amateur boxing champion between 1937 and 1939. Biography Tandberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden on 10 October 1918. He represented Djurgårdens IF. During his career he had 30 fights, winning 23 (11 by KO), losing 6 (1 by KO), and drawing 1. Anton "Rampaging Estonian" Raadik (January 15, 1917 – March 13, 1999) was the most famous Estonian-born middleweight boxer of the 1940s and 1950s, fighting out of Chicago, Illinois. Professional boxing career Anton Raadik was European Middleweight Champion in 1939. On May 13, 1939, he lost a three-round decision to middleweight Jimmy Reeves in Chicago in the International Golden Gloves. In all, he had a reported 130 amateur fights, winning 118.
