Yevgeny Nesterenko
Yevgeny Yevgenievich Nesterenko (russian: Евгений Евгеньевич Нестеренко, link=no; 8 January 1938 – 20 March 2021) was a Soviet and Russian operatic bass. He made an international career, based at the Bolshoi Theatre. He performed a vast repertoire of 50 leading roles, and was known for the title role of Mussorgsky's '' Boris Godunov''. He was active in concert, and composers wrote music for him such as '' Suite on Verses of Michelangelo'' by Dmitri Shostakovich. He was a teacher at Moscow Conservatory and the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. Early life and education Nesterenko was born in Moscow on to Yevgeny Nikiforovich Nesterenko (1908–1996), a major general who fought on the Eastern Front during World War II, and Velta Voldemarovna Bauman (1912–1938), who died when Nesterenko was nine months old. Oleksandr Omelchenko
Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Omelchenko ( uk, Олександр Олександрович Омельченко; 9 August 1938 – 25 November 2021) was a Ukrainian politician who served as mayor of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, first elected in 1999. Running for a third term he lost his re-election bid in March 2006. Omelchenko was also a People's Deputy of Ukraine from 2007 to 2012. Omelchenko was the President of both the Association of the Cities of Ukraine and the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine (1997–2006). In 2001, he bought FC CSKA Kyiv from the Ministry of Defense and transformed it into FC Arsenal Kyiv. Mark Rakita
Mark Semenovich Rakita (russian: Марк Семенович Ракита; born July 22, 1938) is a famed Russian two-time Olympic champion sabreur and coach from the Soviet era. Early life Rakita was born in Moscow, USSR, and is Jewish. Fencing career Rakita started fencing when he was 14. He would practice for three to six hours per day. A 1969 graduate of The Daghestan State Pedagogical Institute, Rakita earned the title of Master of the Sport (Fencing) in 1964. He trained at the Armed Forces sports society. He trained under Olympian David Tishler. World championships Rakita was one of the Soviet Union's top sabre fencers in the 1960s. As a member of the Soviet National team, he won the world championship in the team sabre in 1965, 1967, 1969, and 1971. He won bronze medals with the team in 1962 and 1963. Valery Kerdemelidi
Valery Panayotovich Kerdemelidi (russian: Валерий Панайотович Кердемелиди; born 18 July 1938) is a retired artistic gymnast from Russia. He competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in all artistic gymnastics events and won a silver medal in the team allround competition. Individually his best result was ninth place on the rings and horizontal bar. During his career he won two national titles, on the horizontal bar (1965) and allround (1962). He won two silver team allround medals at the world championships (1962, 1966), as well as five medals at the European championships in 1963. He graduated from an institute of physical education and after retirement worked as a gymnastics coach, becoming the head coach of the Central Soviet Army Club (CSKA) in 1971. He is an international referee and in the 1990s was a member of the technical commission of the European gymnastics federation. Lillian Malkina (born July 14, 1938) is a Soviet, Czech and Russian actress. Early life Malkina was born in Tallinn. From childhood, she attended drama club, where she trained with Vladimir Korenev, Larisa Luzhina, Vitali Konyayev. In 1960 she graduated from the Saint Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy and became an actress for Tallinn Russian Drama. She appeared in theaters in Leningrad and Moscow. She played comedic roles. Vera Alekseyevna Shebeko (russian: Вера Алексеевна Шебеко, links=no; born 10 July 1938) is a former Russian anchorwoman for Soviet Central Television and host of the channel's main editorial program ''Novosti''. Biography In 1965, Shebeko graduated from the Russian language and literature faculty of the Belarusian State University, working as a newsreader for radio stations in Belarus after graduation. She was hired by Soviet Central TV in 1971 in the editorial department; she later became the head anchor of the popular news program ''Vremya'' (russian: Время), as well as appearing on other programs. She was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union until 1990. In the post-Soviet era was a teacher of speech on the NTV channel and NTV Plus, several years worked with the staff of these channels. Liya Medzhidovna Akhedzhakova (russian: link=no, Лия Меджидовна Ахеджакова; born 9 July 1938) is a Soviet and Russian film, stage and voice actress who received the title of People's Artist of Russia in 1994. She received two Nika Awards as the best supporting actress and the 2014 Nika Honorary Prize. Biography Akhedzhakova was born in Dnepropetrovsk (modern-day Dnipro, Ukraine). She grew up in a theatrical family in Maykop. Her father, Medzhid Salehovich Akhedzhakov (1914–2012), was a Circassian nobleman who served as the Principal Director of the National Theatre of the Republic of Adygea. Emma Gapchenko
Emma Vasilyevna Gapchenko (russian: Эмма Васильевна Гапченко; 24 February 1938 – 6 December 2021) was Russian archer. She won three gold medals at the world championships in 1969–73 and a bronze medal at the 1972 Olympics. At the European championships she won the team gold medal in 1970–74 and individual silvers in 1970 and 1974. She never won a Soviet title. Gapchenko trained in running, swimming and volleyball before taking up archery at an advanced age of 28. After retiring from competitions she worked as an archery coach and judge.
