1938 Palestine Cup
The 1938 Palestine Cup ( he, הגביע הארץ-ישראלי, ''HaGavia HaEretz-Israeli'') was the ninth season of Israeli Football Association's nationwide football cup competition. The defending holders were Hapoel Tel Aviv. For the third time since the beginning of the competition, the two senior Tel Aviv clubs, Hapoel and Maccabi met in the final. Hapoel won 2–1, securing its fourth cup and its second double. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. After the State of Israel was established, the rival sport organizations reached a 1951 agreement that allowed joint sports associations and competitions open for all Israeli residents. The Maccabiah Stadium ( he, אצטדיון המכביה ''Itztadion HaMakabiya'') was a football stadium on the Yarkon River in Tel Aviv, Israel. Maccabiah Stadium was built in 1932 for the first Maccabiah Games and was filled to capacity for the opening ceremony. It was used by Maccabi Tel Aviv until 1969, when the team moved to the Bloomfield Stadium. Franz "Peri" Neufeld ( he, פרי נויפלד; 1 July 1913 – 17 January 1982), also known as Kfir Neufeld ( he, כפורי נויפלד, links=no), was an Israeli footballer who played as a forward. At club level, he played for Tersana in Egypt, and Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hakoah Tel Aviv in Israel. He also represented the Mandatory Palestine national team in 1938. International career Neufeld played for Mandatory Palestine at the 1938 FIFA World Cup qualification games against Greece. He featured in both matches, scoring a goal in the home game on 22 January 1938. The two games were his only international caps. Avraham Nudelman
Avraham Nudelman ( he, אברהם נודלמן) was an Israeli footballer who played for Hapoel Tel Aviv and Mandatory Palestine national football team during the British Mandate era. Playing career Nudelman was born in Menashiya neighborhood of Jaffa in 1910, and started playing football with local youth club Allenby Tel Aviv, which was initially affiliated with Maccabi Tel Aviv, but its members decided to withdraw from Maccabi, due to the professional attitude towards sports and merged in 1927 with Hapoel Tel Aviv. With Hapoel, Nudelman stayed until 1938, when he retired from football in favor of his day job as a worker in Tel Aviv Harbor. Nudelman won 3 championships and 4 cups, scoring goals in the 1928 and 1938 cup finals. Nudelman was also part of the Mandatory Palestine national football team, and played three matches for the team, two against Egypt in 1934, scoring the consolation goal for Mandatory Palestine in a 1–7 defeat, and one against Greece in 1938, after which ...
