Martemyan Ryutin
Martemyan Nikitich Ryutin ( rus, Мартемья́н Ники́тич Рю́тин, Martem'yán Nikítich Ryútin; 13 February, 1890 – 10 January, 1937) was a Russian Marxist activist, Bolshevik revolutionary, and a political functionary of the Russian Communist Party. Ryutin is best remembered as the leader of a pro-peasant political faction organized against Soviet leader Joseph Stalin in the early 1930s and as the primary author of a 200-page oppositional platform. Ryutin was arrested by the Soviet secret police, along with his co-thinkers, in what has come to be known as the Ryutin Affair. He was executed in January 1937 as part of the "Yezhovshchina" (Great Purge) conducted against political oppositionists and suspected economic " wreckers" and spies. Valentina Dmitrievna Dimitrieva (russian: Валентина Дмитриевна Дмитриева; 16/25 September 1937 – 18 February 2019) was a Soviet Russian farm worker, production leader and politician who worked at the Motor Bolishebikshih collective farm from 1952 until her retirement in 1993 and was an elected deputy of the Congress of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union from the between 1989 and 1991. She was one worker who began mechanisation of the farm she worked at to increase performance and raised productivity of the cows in her group by more than one-third in the early 1970s. Yuri Ivanovich Manin (russian: Ю́рий Ива́нович Ма́нин; born 16 February 1937) is a Russian mathematician, known for work in algebraic geometry and diophantine geometry, and many expository works ranging from mathematical logic to theoretical physics. Moreover, Manin was one of the first to propose the idea of a quantum computer in 1980 with his book ''Computable and Uncomputable''. Life and career Manin gained a doctorate in 1960 at the Steklov Mathematics Institute as a student of Igor Shafarevich. He is now a Professor at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in Bonn, and a professor emeritus at Northwestern University. Manin's early work included papers on the arithmetic and formal groups of abelian varieties, the Mordell conjecture in the function field case, and algebraic differential equations. Leonid Zakharovich Trauberg (russian: Леонид Захарович Трауберг, 17 January 1902 – 14 November 1990) was a Ukrainian Soviet film director and screenwriter. He directed 17 films between 1924 and 1961 and was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1941.
