1937 Ice Hockey World Championships
The 1937 Ice Hockey World Championships were held between February 17 and February 27, 1937, in London, England. Eleven teams took part in this World Championship. Teams from Austria and Czechoslovakia were supposed to be in attendance as well but had issues travelling, and cancelled. In the preliminary round, the teams were divided into three groups: two groups of four teams and a group with three teams. The top three teams in the groups with four teams and the top two in the group with three teams advanced to the second round. The second round consisted of two groups of four with the top two teams in each group advancing to the final round. The other four teams in the second round played in the consolation round for places 5-8. The three teams that did not advance to the second round were supposed to play off for places 9-11, but first Romania, then both Sweden and Norway decided not to continue playing. IIHF Men's World Ice Hockey Championships
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. The IIHF Hall of Fame was founded in 1997, and has been located within the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1998. Kenneth Victor Campbell (10 December 1941 – 31 August 2008) was an English actor, writer and director known for his work in experimental theatre. He has been called "a one-man dynamo of British theatre". Campbell achieved notoriety in the 1970s for his nine-hour adaptation of the science-fiction trilogy ''Illuminatus!'' and his 22-hour staging of Neil Oram's play cycle '' The Warp''. George Goble (ice Hockey)
George H. Goble is a staff member at the Purdue University Engineering Computer Network and a 1996 Ig Nobel Prize winner. Goble is commonly known as "ghg" since he has used that as a login id, and signature in digital communications, since the 1970s. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University. In 1981, he wired together the backplanes of two DEC VAX-11/780's and made the first multi-CPU Unix computer, preceding DEC's dual processor VAX-11/782. The operating system was based on the 4.1 BSD kernel, and the modifications thus eventually made it into the 4.3 BSD Unix release. At the beginning of the 4.3 BSD user manuals, Bill Joy wrote a special note of thanks to GHG for being courageous enough to put the multi-CPU kernel into a production environment before anyone else did.
