1935–36 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel 1935–36 season was the forty-third season since the club's foundation on 15 November 1893. FC Basel played their home games in the Landhof in the district Wettstein in Kleinbasel. Franz Rinderer was again voted as the club chairman and this was his fifth consecutive season as club president. Overview Alwin Riemke was appointed as new team manager. He followed Richard (Dombi) Kohn who had moved on to manage Feyenoord. Riemke came from Lausanne-Sport, who had won the double in the previous Nationalliga championship season and the Cup. Riemke acted as player-manager and played four matches during the season. Basel played a total of 38 matches in their 1935–36 season. 26 of these matches were in the Nationalliga, one in the Swiss Cup and 11 were friendly matches. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Heinz Elsässer
Heinz Elsässer (born 11 March 1917) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel in the second half of the 1930s and in the 1940s. He played mainly as midfielder, but also as defender. Elsässer played youth football by FC Basel. He joined their first team at the beginning of their 1935–36 season. He played his domestic league debut for the club as defender in the away game on 1 September 1935 as Basel won 4–2 against Aarau. He scored his first goal for his club on 3 January 1937 in the home game at the Landhof against Grasshopper Club. It was the first goal of the game, a penalty kick, as Basel won 2–0. Elsässer played twelve seasons for Basel. In the season 1938/39 Elsässer and his team suffered relegation to the 1 Liga. Heinrich Diethelm (born 1914; date of death unknown) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel in the 1930s. He played as forward. Diethelm joined Basel's first team in 1934. Emil Hummel
Emil Hummel (born 1911; date of death unknown) was a German footballer who played for FC Basel. He played mainly in the position of defender. Between the years 1931 and 1938 Hummel played a total of 178 games for Basel scoring a total of 17 goals. 114 of these games were in the Swiss Serie A, 18 in the Swiss Cup. He scored 11 goals in the domestic league and five in the Swiss Cup. The other 46 games and the other goal scored were during the friendly/test games. Hummel was a member of the Basel team that won the Swiss Cup in the 1932–33 season. The final was played in the Hardturm stadium against Grasshopper Club. Basel won 4–3 and achieved the club's first ever national title. For the season 1938–1939 Hummel transferred to FC Kreuzlingen where he stayed for two years before ending his football career. Ernst Hufschmid (footballer)
Ernst Hufschmid (born 4 February 1913 in Basel – 30 November 2001 in Basel) was a Swiss footballer who played for Basel and Biel-Bienne. He also played for Switzerland in the 1934 FIFA World Cup. He played mainly in the position as midfielder, but in his later career also as defender. Club football Hufschmid played a total of 402 matches for Basel between 1929 and 1950. He scored 83 goals during this time. 268 of these games were in the Nationalliga, 53 in the Swiss Cup and 91 were friendly games. He scored 51 goals in the domestic league, 11 in the Swiss Cup and the other 22 were scored during the test games. He played for six months for Biel-Bienne in 11 games scoring one goal. Robert Büchi (born 1910) was a Swiss footballer who played for St. Gallen and FC Basel during the 1930s. He played as defender Until 1933 Büchi played for St. Gallen. Eugène De Kalbermatten
Eugène de Kalbermatten (1914–1983) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Sion, FC Basel and Cantonal Neuchatel in the 1930s and 1940s. He played as a goalkeeper. Coming from Sion de Kalbermatten joined Basel's first team in 1935. He played his domestic league debut for his new club in the away game on 8 December 1935 as Basel played a 1–1 draw against Lugano.
