Anita Gradin
Anita Gradin (12 August 1933 – 23 May 2022) was a Swedish politician and ambassador. She was the Minister with responsibility for immigrant and equality affairs at the Ministry of Labour in Sweden from 1982 to 1986. She was Minister of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1986 to 1991. From 1995 to 1999 she was a member of the European Commission responsible for Immigration, home affairs and justice; relations with the Ombudsman; and Financial Control and Fraud prevention. Gradin was president of Socialist International Women and worked against the trafficking of women. Biography Gradin was the daughter of the paper worker Ossian Gradin (1910–1986) and Alfhild Gradin (1913–1984), born Englund. She was married to Lieutenant Colonel Bertil Kersfelt. Gradin graduated in 1950, studied at the Swedish School of 1953, at the 1954 British School of Economics, at the Nordic Folk High School in Geneva in 1958, and became a socialist in Stockholm in 1960. Alma Åkermark
Alma Mathilda Åkermark (11 June 1853, Forshälla parish – 4 June 1933, Oscar Fredriks parish) was a Swedish editor, feminist, writer, journalist and women's rights activist. She was a co-founder of the radical feminist women's paper '' Framåt'' ('Forward'), and its editor during its entire publication. She wrote under the pseudonym ''Mark''. She was active within the Gothenburg's Women's Association, and a leading figure within the most progressive and radical part of the Swedish and local women's rights movement, and was noted for her involvement in the '' Sedlighetsdebatten''. Life Alma Åkermark was the daughter of the Gothenburg merchant Anton Wilhelm Åkermark and Kristina Kristiansson and sister of the painter Isak Åkermark. Her family was acquainted with the family of the progressive politician and publisher Sven Adolf Hedlund. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. Paper editions 1978–2007 The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Up until 1978 the two publishing houses of Aschehoug and Gyldendal, Norway's two largest, had published ' and ', respectively. The respective first editions were published in 1907–1913 (Aschehoug) and 1933–1934 (Gyldendal). The slump in sales for paper-based encyclopedias around the turn of the 21st century hit Kunnskapsforlaget hard, but a fourth edition of the paper encyclopedia was secured by a grant of ten million Norwegian kroner from the foundation Fritt Ord in 2003. ''Svenskt biografiskt handlexikon'' () is a compact Swedish dictionary of biography first published in 1873–1876 by the physician and antiquarian Herman Hofberg (1823–1883). The second, updated edition was published in 1906, under the editorship of Frithiof Heurlin, Viktor Millqvist, and Olof Rubenson. The second edition, two volumes of all together 1,445 pages, contains 4,419 articles on families and individuals, "renowned Swedish men and women from the reformation until the present times", and more than 3,000 miniature portraits. Axel Jungstedt
Axel Adolf Harald Jungstedt (17 March 1859 – 14 March 1933) was a Swedish painter and professor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts. He is represented with paintings at the Gothenburg Art Museum, the National Gallery of Denmark, and the National Gallery of Norway, and contributed with decorations of the Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm Opera House. Biography Axel Adolf Harald Jungstedt was born on 17 March 1859 in Norrköping in Östergötland, Sweden, the son of Johan Nils Jungstedt and Matilda Sundius. He was the brother of opera singer Matilda Jungstedt. Jungstedt studied with Edvard Perséus at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts from 1878 to 1883. After completing his studies, he made study trips on academy scholarship from 1884–1888 to Italy, Germany and Switzerland. In Paris, he studied with William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825–1905).
